General / Off-Topic What song are you listening to right now :)

Famous upbeat 'three chord symphony', A - E - Bm - D (plus F#m and G for the bridge).

It's really dead easy. Perfect for trying out the new Looper, and then improvising over the progression ;)

The second guitar just plays single notes on the b string, going down from 14th fret, ending at an A on g string. You can play a full open A chord for a change sometimes.

More insights here, by the brilliant Rick Beato:

Knopfler rules (check 02:30+ here), including Royal Albert Hall, where they played numerous times, for numerous years ;)

NB. Mark explains how to properly play it here, chord by chord, and it's dead basically rather easy too (if you can play fingerstyle, but goes fine with a pick too, just a little more work, and use one of the Taylor custom picks or such to avoid too much attack), actually, but somehow I fear, the guys didn't quite get it right anyway. All three of them later went away into Death Metal, Free Jazz and such, what a waste IMHO. Anyway:

It's part two and three of a master class, look up the first one too if you will. The guitar you see here sold for half a million GBP last year btw. ;)

EDIT: Knopfler style absolutely requires the use of a volume pedal, he still uses the old Ernie Ball ones, like I did, until the string broke after 20 years. Even though Ernie Ball sells replacement parts, those don't fit anymore, as the volume pot the thing is centered about was changed, and so the string setup doesn't fit anymore, and you can do nothing about it. So I was forced to buy a new VP Jr. and it's great again! Steer clear from anything else if you're serious about guitar volume pedals, you'll regret it. Steve Rothery uses the same as Mark, but got a shiny level display on top 🙀. Hopefully, that's not standard yet ;)

EDIT: - Sorry, as @Ralph Vargr has informed me below, it seems the BBC Sounds app only works for UK...

I only recently discovered on BBC Sounds a Radio 3 "spin-off station" called BBC Radio 3 Unwind (3U). I never usually look at streaming services so had not seen this one before. Apparently it will be coming to DAB+ this year. Anywayup... It has made a nice backdrop to playing on the PC or reading so I thought maybe I'd post a link to it on here:

"This content is not available in your location". BBC. :(

I know this is not new but since Euro-thingie kicks off tomorrow I thought it might be nice to put this brilliant example of Jan van Duikeren on the flugelhorn to set a chilled tone for the day:

P.S. Why did I come across this on the yourtube today? - Well 'cos my postman has not turned up at all this week with my JVD CD from France so I'm a bit antsy hoping he'll appear this morning.

Exceptional stuff, thank you! The Flügelhorn dude is beyond for sure, accompanied by an odd 6 string bass and a custom built Tele with Fender neck but no decals. Both are brilliant too, the bassman can play solos like a guitarist. But the most important thing is the music, great, subtle choice, and it saved my day :)

NB. The guitar player chose the same TC Electronics Forcefield Compressor pedal model I use, excellent choice! \o/ 🎸
