While I do agree that the constant tweaks based in forum reaction is wayyyyy too knee-jerk and annoying, I vehemently disagree that the AI is too hard. It's harder than it was a year and a half ago, but still not hard.

Case in point: I get interdicted by a Dangerous Anaconda last night in my D-rated Cutter with a full cargo hold and which turns like a whale, and the plasma-shooting Anaconda gets blown to bits without me even losing shields. Yes, he was more maneuverable as high-rated AI now fly with 4 pips to ENG, but that also meant that his shields went down extremely fast. It was silly really. My turreted pulse lasers and MCs made short work of him, while the huge MC managed to land some shots too. I am not an amazing pilot, just decent. Key is just to have 4 pips to SYS, 2 to WEP for me. If/when I need to turn, I simply boost and briefly turn off FA, to get back on point.

I'll say this in addition: AI is now dense again. When 2.1 came out a high ranked NPC might follow you all the way to a station to try to take you out, but once they got close to the station, they'd turn around. Not so anymore. Now they go in guns-a-blazing only to get taken out by the Station and local security.

Truthfully, while tired of the constant tweaks I'd really like to see the AI get tougher and smarter over time. I'd like Elite to be Dangerous. Right now it's Elite Reasonably Safe.
