What to do in Colonia...

So I find myself in Colonia, quite accidently. I had two passengers that were paying 60m Cr between them to visit the area, but I made the mistake of sightseeing for myself - dropped in to Colonia, fancied seeing Jacques, got scanned, they got annoyed and left. 60m Cr down the drain and 21kLy from home. Bummer.
So now I'm here, where are the cool places to visit?
I'm already planning on visiting the Browncoats, because you know, Firefly. Other than that... where to go and what to see? Recommendations?

While you're waiting for one of the 7 people who've been to Colonia to come along, here's a bunny with what appear to be TWO pancakes on it's head, clever little blighter. I suggest you imagine some soothing music too, maybe a little Barry Manilow. :)

Prepare your trip to Sag A* and then to Beagle point. That's what i did.

Don't think I have the patience to do Beagle. I do think I'll make the return journey via Sag A* though. Actually, a question about Sag A*... I've never been there, how will I know once I've arrived? Is there a particular system I need to go to? Is there a station?

Moore's Charm (in ring asteroid base). Foster Terminal (in ring megaship).

For modules and ships to do local stuff; Colonia Dream, Dervish Platform, Colonia Hub, Tolagarf's Junkyard.

For hunting there are some unauthorised installations in Kojeara.

For mining you can use any place. It's all pristine.

Missions are generally the same as in the bubble.

If you are heading for the core, there should be "the world of death" on the way, if I'm not getting directions wrong. Quite a sight.

edit: there is a tourist beacon, but no station at Sag A - you can't miss it once you jump in - and you can easily search for it on the galaxy map

It's on the map. Just set a course and off you go. Use Neutronstar travel for extra fun. :)

Sagittarius A* is a massive Black Hole in the center of the galaxy. Believe me, you will know when you arrive. The whole system is dazed and confused. There is no station, ony a tourist beacon.

Err.. R u kidding?

Before you set off back, if you want to see something different this is about 600LY 'below' Jaques:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/357172-Challenge-to-land-on-the-world-of-death

A planet whose orbit places it inside the exclusion zone of a white dwarf for all but about 20 minutes of its roughly 90 minute orbit. You can land in those 20 minutes, although you need to dismiss your ship before the white dwarf's jets begin to lash the surface or it will take damage. Your SRV can deal with it fine (!) Then you can have a drive round and enjoy the (very rapid) sunset; these pics are taken about two seconds apart:

Just be careful when calling your ship back to make sure it doesn't come in through the white dwarf.

If you're fit for passenger missions, there are a lot of local missions from people wanting to take a quick day trip to Jaques and back, available at just about any station in the region. You can make back the 60m very quickly that way once you get to Allied. Extra passenger cabins are available at Colonia Dream if you need them (but make sure you store rather than sell any equipment over D-rated as it may be tricky to get it back)

As far as other things to see:
- land at Concordia Hub just after sunset or just before sunrise: the mountains are amazing when they catch the light just right.
- Moore's Charm and Foster Terminal are definitely worth a visit.
- Magellan's Walhalla Port is one of the few settlements in a neutron star system. It also has amazing sunrises if you catch it at the right time in its orbit.
- the secret prison colony of Pekoe (pretends to be uninhabited on the Galmap)
- there's a crashed T-9 on one of the moons in the Colonia system. There's a listening post near Colonia 2 which will almost give you the coordinates (read as long x lat, rather than the more conventional lat x long)
- Rodentia has a ringed Earthlike
- There's a rare glowing green gas giant in the nebula (Eol Prou KW-L c8-something ... sorry, can't remember the final number)

Filter the galaxy map to show economies. Was quite surprised at the amount of populated systems out there now.

more good suggestions, I'm definitely going to try some of these out. Sounds like there's actually quite a lot to do around here, I might stay a while now that I don't have the passenger demands to be back at Quince within the next 3 weeks.
Rep for everyone!

Hey just a friendly wave, I'm out here in Colonia. Some nice suggestions here, I'll be checking them for sure.

I've had some of my fleet sent down, Chrome Eagle, Vulture, Keelback, Dolphin and Conda. Also bought a Python out here for the Haulage missions as there are quite a few good ones from the outposts' also the Keelback is a flying coffin!

I could only C/D rate the Python but I did have an A5 G4 FSD in storage at the Bubble so I've called that down, should be here by now actually :)
