What were your first albino animals?

Okay. I know having albinos in your zoo is "old news" and you can find them on the market, but I swear I shriek like a little girl every time a baby albino is born in my zoo. I mostly play franchise and I avoid buying them on the market because I want to breed them myself. It's so rewarding when they are born. It really feels special. To me at least.

My first albino animal was a male warthog. What an absolute legend. And because of him I got even more albino babies! Yay!

Here he is in all his glory.

My second one was an albino ostrich! So beautiful. I still can't believe I have an albino ostrich!

My third one(s) - that's right, plural (!) were born yesterday. Oh. My. God. I got 2 albino nile monitors! They're kinda weird but sooo cool!

So what were your first albino animals? :)

mine was a peafowl XD, but honestly said Im not such a fan of albino animals. Frontier did such an amazing job on the skin of the animals, i like them more :p

I've never had them born to "normal" animals. I've just bred albinos off the market. The albinos bred from other albinos are peafowl, monitors, warthogs, and lions. I have noticed that some white animals (like peafowl, tigers, and lions) are being sold for around the same prices as ordinary animals, now.

You can have white animals offline. Had (have) 1 white male bengal tiger in Sandbox. But you can't breed them - every offspring is normal coloured, what a pity. :(

Did you try to breed him with his mother and/or daughters? If not, I guess his mates are "normal" and very likley do not carry the white gene. As the white gene is recessive, animals will only turn out white if they got the trait from both parents. So if one parent dosent have it, the offspring will show normal colours, but carry the gene.
If you did try inbreeding however, then you either had though luck or its really not possible in sandbox mode:unsure: But that would honestly suprise me and be a weird design choice from Frontier. Or something they missed?
Now I would like to try it out in sandox mode myself - but I dont know if or when I could ever get an albino there:LOL:

My first (and suprise) albino was a female peafowl on the day after launch. I have to say I was both exicted aswell as disappointed that it was just a peafowl:oops: A few days later a white Nyala was born in my zoo. All other white animals I bought (and bred from those animals) after the pictures were updated though. Ok, I also had two "half-suprises". Like when I was able to pick up an white albino african elephant, I breed them to my females and the first baby born was white aswell. That was quite a nice suprise, I totally didnt know I had the gene already. You can guess I totally regreted selling her mother and silblings before. It would have been so nice to have an albino elephant born unexpected, but this was better that nothing - it was more likely for me to lose that gene than breed one with outside help.

The second half suprise was a male Frontier panda I bought to breed them to my white females (as other white pandas are pretty hard to come by in sales right now) and 2 or 3 of his offspring came out white themselves, so I picked up a carrier without knowing. Which was quite nice, spared me some back-breeding efforts :D

In about some 100 h at all I tried everything. Inbreeding in a very stringent way (with mother and sisters and then again with those daughters and granddaughters), inbreeding in a "loose" way with some fresh blood now and then and breeding with as many females possible - it turned out always the same: normal coloured offspring.

And of cause I tried breeding the offspring with each other. Always normal coloured offspring.
(And I know my Mendel ;o) )

@shirandhak Oh, well that is surley weird then. I cant think why it wouldnt work in sandbox mode. Maybe its a bug? And if it isnt, I wonder why Frontier would disable albino breeding in sandbox(all offline modes?). Good I dont play in sandbox, that would surley take my enjoyment out of it.

Anyone here who was able to breed for albinos in sandbox? Or was there a statement from the devs about it?

My first albino was a puff adder. I've had them ever since. I think the second was a nile monitor, and the third was a Western Diamondback. I wonder which exhibit animals can be albino? With the iguana shown here that's three, or wait, four, I think I read somewhere about an albino boa.

I put it on the bug-tracker, but I don't think it will get a priority-status ;)
(So far nobody else contributed to this "bug")

Maybe albinos in sandbox are only to get offline-players the "ghost"-success (or whatever this game-mechanism is called in english)

To this day I’ve had none so far. My fault sometimes if I’m putting tortoises in my zoos I’ll turn the births off in the settings but I’ll have to try. Right now I have some very good bengal tigers so hopefully they’ll be the first.

Some people are lucky. I've only ever had one albino, a boa constrictor I found in the market in Sandbox. Never been able to breed an albino. I really want a white tiger but no luck.

I'm glad to hear that albinos can be found in the market in sandbox. I tried playing franchise mode this week, and it's so buggy I can't play it anymore. Sandbox seems to be the only thing that's playable for me, but I'm quite enjoying it.
