Does he have anything to do with space, science, sci fi or engineering? Does anyone outside of Canada know who he is? In general it's best to leave politicians out of it. As for the former General Secretary, he does have a Nobel Peace Prize

I'm outside of Canada and I know who he is. As for his contributions to science, he loaned America his leading scientist, Dr. Rodney McKay, who played a pivotal role in saving the Pegasus galaxy and, if I recall correctly, planet earth. So Mr. Harper has my vote!

IIRC DRM also nearly caused the extinction of the pegasus galaxy by waking up the replicators in the first place.

My best friend at school when I was 12 was a space nut, always said he was going to be an astronaut when he grew up. He died when I was 13 from leukemia during the summer holidays - none of us knew he was sick, he'd never told anyone. He truly would have loved the original Elite and the entire genre that was spawned from it. I like to think in another universe he did become an astronaut, he was always near top of the class and smarter than me for sure; maybe they even went back to the moon.

His name was Niels van Os, from Dutch parents. Would that be enough to have a station named after him?

It's funny what memories surface on occasion, I've not thought about him for a long time, gone but obviously not forgotten.

The unevolved pond scum that was Stephen Harper did not believe in science. He actually had a science minister who did not believe in evolution or science. He was very good at firing scientists or threatening them with dismissal if they dared to discuss those annoying things called facts. His crimes were many and the country is still recovering from his near-dictatorial rule.

Recovering??? Hair boy, selfie king, ex-part time drama teacher Trudeau Jr. Is well in his way to damaging the country beyond recognition. You will be paying for generations between the damage this guy and his sidekick in Ontario is doing!
