What would y'all say to more decals, like livery components sach as sharks teeth and racing stripes?

Here's a thought, Every ship currently has 3 decal positions, really they are just for emblems, like your rank, or a community goal badge/decal, and the rest of your ship is liveried by the paintjob...

...but what about adding more livery options for a wider set of decals, applied as a pack over the paint job in addition to the paint and situated between the paint and the three emblem slots?

This would pave the way for things like tiger stripes:

So, with a Decal pack over different colours you'd get something like this:

Sorry for the lurid colour,s but its just a quick mask and reshade, so the darker hues show all the jaggies even more than the bright ones, but it shows how wildly we could change the look of a ship by mixing paintjobs and decals / liveries over the top of them. My thinking is these could be a huge revenue generator for frontier if each pack / element was an arx purchase, CMDR's would have a whale of a time mixing and matching stuff, and the screenshots etc would look wild with more variety of ship liveries in the game?

I say shark's teeth is a must that people suggest for years and we still didn't get, so it doesn't matter what we would say.

Seeing the results of the Art department (paint jobs/decals) I suppose they need someone with a bit of creativity over there,in the past I've modeled 3D stuff for games a lot and I can assure you that doing better skinning than the crap we have now is very simple and won't require a big effort.

I think a numbers pack for racing would be good, and for the numbers on the racing skins to be repositioned so they are masked by the decal if one is applied.

There really isn't a downside to any skin or decal ideas other than how many people are likely to buy it, even then I don't imagine the ROI would require all that many sales to be profitable, just a matter of priorities.

I think more ways to customise your ships (and later Odyssey Outfits) is a big positive.

Some decals along the lines of the old WW2 aircraft ones would be cool (I'm guessing keeping it clean!). There are so many other great decals out there that could be adopted by groups of friends who want to have something to identify their individual groups. Thinking about all the American Football/Basketball/Hockey type mascot/decals - that type of thing.

Btw mate, I like the idea, and I'd probably use my free arx for these sorts of things for sure.

Sure, why not? Gotta spend my free arx on something. I'm not likely to see a hula girl or a chili pepper bonsai any time soon – mixed blessing I guess, since I'd be tempted to even buy those if needed.
