What would you pay for ship interiors?

almost 24 hours later and no reply. Does that answer your question?

Unless the CMs create a thread, 99% goes unread. I don't recall when was the last time any orange poster made a comment in the suggestion section like "great ideas, I shall forward these to the devs".
Even the last thread, about the "Engineering changes" has sunk down to page 4, and we still don't know what's happening there, what will be taken on board - if so and how much.

That's why i have my doubts about the CMs reading and Fdev listening to what the community has to say or what we'd like to see and have in game.
While I have had CM's reply to me and quote me on this forum, I can also say they literally don't look at the suggestion forum. I have made suggestions there, and then mention that suggestion on Twitch in the chat, only to be told to post it in the suggestion forum, which I had done and if the CM had read the suggestion thread, they would have known that. So I don't bother with the suggestion forum any more, I mean, what's the point?

When I read the disclaimer in this week's Discovery Scanner post:
A little request:
Following a little derailment in last week's Discovery Scanner thread, can I politely ask that comments in here aren't drawn toward a holding ground for discussing known issues and queries too far out of discussions around the article, please?
It's not that we don't want to hear them or read them, it just helps a lot to keep those conversations in relevant areas of the Forum (for the sake of my personal brain, more than anything).
I was very close asking where these relevant areas are and if we could find Frontier employees there. No wonder people are flooding the news posts when that's the only place with at least a small chance that Frontier would notice and reply to your post.

If you ask me, the point of the suggestion forum is that all the smart backseat developers can get their crazy ideas and unwanted development advice off their chest without contaminating every other forum section.
to be fair to the smart backseat developers........ if elite had not seemingly completely stalled in terms of big ticket item developement with very little news on what is coming from the devs then maybe players would not need to request features (features which usually FD themselves had teased over the years so not always crazy and unwanted ideas).

IF they are not coming and if EDO is elites last stand then FD may as well put us out of our misery and tell us so imo.... then no one will need to suggest anything.

Players probably wouldnt feel "entitled" to updates if FD had not sold life time expansion passes, sometimes for over £100 (the horizons lifetime pass).. but the sale of that pass (12 months after release of the game) does put a certain level of expectation on them imo.

I am all for making a product and letting players buy it or not buy it as is..... but by choosing to sell passes for future content after release (so this isnt a kickstarter thing) - with the logical assumption that that pass would offer value for money over just buying each DLC on the point of release - does some what endebt FD to some of the players imo.

To be fair, the suggestion I referred to in my above post, was improvements to the store which it sorely needs, for example the ability to filter paintjob styles and sort by parameters such as release date or colour. The options they have on the store at the moment are horrendously bad.

EDIT: Here's the thread: [Store Suggestion] Improve Filter And Search Options

I remember one of the Youtubers got invited to the HQ for a tour. He had a paper ready with input regarding QoL and some other issues. When it was Q&A time, he got 2 words in and then got dismissed and shoved out the door.
Fdev aren't interested in what the community has to say. They have a plan and that's what's going to happen. Just like what we saw with the leaked roadmap a few years back. Everything was spot on, or at least within a month or two.
And the suggestion forum is full of brilliant ideas. If Fdev would sift through it, the game would be so much richer. I understand not every suggestion can or would be considered, that's plain impossible. But those adding to better QoL and gameplay would be fantastic if they'd make it to the suggestion board.

It was suggested many times - opening the game for modders (with strict rules, quality control and FDev having the last word of course) could be a feasible way.

Looking at other games with modding community I'm pretty confident modders could solve a lot of current issues and bugs in the game + add more content.
And who knows, once they create something spectacular, they can be hired as contractors and such.

That's for external apps/tools.
There are already mods that change things in the game: the colors of your cockpit, HUD, etc. It's not just external, it changes the entire appearance of the game itself.

Maybe the reason it hasn't been done yet is that nobody has applied with the appropriate idea and implementation yet.

It's one thing to want them. It's another thing entirely to actually incorporate it into the game. If someone had every actually applied for that, I would have assumed we would have heard from who that is and that they either never heard back or were told, "no, we're not doing that" or something of that nature.

We haven't.

I posted a couple suggestions even after it became apparent that it would likely fall on "deaf ears". For me, sometimes the process of organizing one's thoughts and expressing them in written media is its own reward.

My last (and likely final) suggestion: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/make-supercruise-like-the-oceans-during-wwii.527325/

Of course this has not stopped me from contaminating the rest of the forum with my unwanted ideas, LOL. That's what the "ignore" button is for.

No, my idea was that once all interiors had been developed, FDev would give all interiors away, as they did with Horizons - and then have the option to develop gameplay.
Of course, what they actually do is up to them.

So:
1. They don't have to sink a huge investment into a multi-year development of interiors and gameplay only to have another Odyssey situation
2. They can hire external resources to do most of the work
3. They can immediately see whether the first interior sells and then continue or not based on interest
4. Eventually all interiors will be done and all kinds of cool options open up - or the community shows their disinterest, they stop implementing interiors and no huge loss
5. People who don't care about non-functional cosmetics don't have to participate (eventually they would, but I think interior gameplay or walking down corridors could easily be made optional)
Why invest into interiors at all? It's only cost. There is no gameplay and thus won't sell well. So it won't be continued. Useless expenses.

I think for a game about flying space ships you would think there would be something new to fly or a vast selection of a couple of hundred or so ships. Unfortunately its not the case we seem to have hit the point in ED history where ship designers have all taken career breaks 🤣
Many went to SC - that game has infinite need of ship concept jpgs.

Looking at modders for THIS game, I would say the same. I would probably have quit ED earlier if I hadn't been able to make some of my own mods. Granted, these mods were made despite of Frontier rather with their assistance, but at least they've not shut down such mods.

That said, I would LOVE to have access to the localization (text) files. I would change the names of many of the materials (the idea that iron is rare and must be mined "by hand" in 330n is ridiculous) and I'd come up with way more interesting NPC chat dialog, perhaps even generating new dynamic comms on the fly! That's one thing I love about games like Space Engineers and X4 Foundations - they actively support modding and it really does make both games better. And if you don't think so, you can just run vanilla - the choice is yours!
