What's everyone's "must have" enginered modulue?

I always go with FSD range first - as a explorer I ironically learned to absolutely hate manual hyper jump travel so I need to speed the process as much as I can. Next would be overcharged multi-cannons - my main bounty hunting weapons.
rapid fire plasma lobbers and lightened military hull

So it’s pretty unanimous FSD Jump Distance Increase.

What about the experimental? I picked Stripped Down at it reduces mass because I want my thrusters to be more effective. I assumed it would translate to rang also.

My anaconda is hitting 32 and the FSD is maxed in size, rating and engineering. How are people seeing in the 60’s? Is that with the ship just bare bones?

For most medium and large ships I go with Mass Manager as that gives you more range than Stripped Down.
I use Stripped Down for my Racing Courier as every ounce counts when using advanced thrusters.

I don't have a 'must have'... but I am pretty pleased with my 'old' DSS, it can drum results of a L Brown Dwarf at 6,1/2+ kls... and Earth sized balls at 300, hmmm!

Power Plant G1 Low Emissions with Mostered or G1 Overcharged with Thermal spread. A tiny tweak that makes so many other nearly balanced things work.

Nooooo. You needed to add the Mass Manager experimental to get 61.2% Optimal thingy. Or Deep Charge on 4A FSD and lower.

I am not slapping Deep Charge on an FDL since it's FSD is Class 4. It's already got a patheticly small enough fuel tank and comes close to overheating when fuel scooping. I'm not roasting the damn ship cause it wants to eat more fuel.

None of my ships have G5 drives.
I won't trade with Palin, so I'm limited to G3s.
I seem to manage okay.

Why won't you trade with Palin? His requirements are easy enough.

Lightweight engineer everything, max out FSD range. Do a grade 5 lightweight sensor, it’ll blow your mind in the conda.

Yup, any new ship:
1. Upgrade the FSD as much as possible.
2. Upgrade dirty drive as much as possible.
3. Shields.

Of course, now that we can carry more materials and the improved roll system, this process will be a tad easier to accomplish. The Starduster (my Asp Explorer) went from 30 ly max to 43 ly max. Would have done more but ran out of materials. It's ok. I know how it works now, I just need more stuff.

for me it was thrusters, then distro, then weapons.

now i'm playing with the idea of getting rid of all my engineered modules next time i log in.

the other alternative is liquidating all my assets (over a billion i guess) and organize a mass palladium/narcotics giveaway in lhs 3447 before cleaning save.

and yet a third alternative is do nothing.
