What's going on?!

Happy exploring! The feeling of kitting your ship out and launching knowing that you might not make it back is daunting and awesome at the same time.

What's going on?! :O

Seriously...
Combat is fun..
Trading is funner..
... but exploration is just utterly blowing my mind ... :O

1125.39Ly from Sol and I have literally no desire to turn back, it's always just .. one more star .. :O

What's going on?! :O

You should head for Sagittarius A at the galactic centre or the Neutron Field - the later should be closer to your current position

Can someone explain the attraction of going from one star to another? Once you've seen each type you've seen them all surely?

Cannot be explained, it must be experienced. You'll either like it, or hate it.
Or like it, then get tired of it.

Do you have beta access, "real boy" ;) ?
They've done some nice improvements to the galaxy map. This system in the OP for instance, try to search for it: Mission impossible.
This long awaited fix will finally settle in 1.4 :D

Yeah I have BETA access, I noted a few of the changes to the GalMap - in particular the change of "Info" "Navigation" etc to Icons is a particularly nice touch. :)
I found that system in my OP using the GalMap, make sure that it's WREDGUIA JQ-Y B29-O and not WREDGUIA JQ-Y B29-0. :p

This.
I found the idea of exploring boring; "where's the joy in going from one star to another?" .. turns out, I think I found my calling. I love travelling to a new system, running a scan, seeing if there's anything there. A little bit of hope inside to find a water/earth-like; finding supergiants .. (I think I found one.. are Class IV/V's supergiants?) .. I dunno, definitely something to experience once you've left the bubble. :)

Have you seen one of each type?

Have you found an earthlike orbiting an S-class carbon star yet?

What's the biggest Hypergiant you've seen?

How many Wolf-Rayets have your name on them?

Out near SAG A on my first trip there and finding lots of interesting systems. Did a couple of short 10,000Ly round trips prior to pay for my Asp. The star density out here is an awesome sight.

The desire to see something no one else has seen yet, the desire to go where no one else has gone, these things can't be quantified or explained really.

I have many stars and planets with my ingame nick, Kristov Kerensky, as the discoverer. What marks have you left in the game that will outlast anything but the game itself? What marks can you make that will outlast anything but the game itself outside of exploration? All other things are fleeting, but to be the first to see a planet, to have your mark on it forever, that is something that is only outshone by SEEING that planet the first time and knowing, none have gone before, this is terra incognita, and here there be dragons.

There is a sameness in planets and stars visually but each system is where the sense of adventure is. It's not just about the looks but what is there. Many systems are very different in how they are constructed. Each planet and star have a difference in their specifications. I thought these two were interesting when you look at the numbers.

Then there is the thrill of the unknown and what waits for you in the next system. Might be dangerous. Nice screenshots while fueling.

Have to have patience and a sense of fascination with what is out there at the next jump. For the explorer type it is an adventure.

Im exploring for almost the whole year now (only got to play a few hours a week at top)
Made a round trip with SAG A* on the way and heading home now but i must say the actual galaxy is a bit boring.

Got all you can see and plenty of them - water worlds, earth likes, all the other planets too, up to 5 or 6 stars in a system, neutrons, black holes and all in between.

But you can basically do nothing and see nothing surprising.

Think ill get some money and maybe its enough for elite explorer status but if there is no random items or the like to discover in the future ill newer do it again.
