I'd like to know what you think when some stranger suddenly starts talking in the middle of a fight, alongside or against you. This poll assumes the speaker's using their mic considerately (to your own standards) and is speaking with tact. An unreasonable conceit, but it seems necessary for this exercise. I left out the "Everyone should eat sushi on an open mic!" option, because open mics seem to be the joke option.

Does your choice in the poll assume particular prerequisites? Have you had experiences in CQC which colour your opinion? Would you accept only a particular kind of communication (i.e. life-or-death tactical info)? Are the in-game voice comms too unclear to allow anything of worth to be communicated, or the matches too short to risk arguments and confusion?

I'm mainly fishing for a concrete etiquette here, but realistically I hope for a collection of opinions that could be useful self-feedback for the forum community. If the discussion and the poll turn out positive, perhaps we'll risk talking to each other occasionally for tactical/social advantage, and maybe it'll be worth it.

Feedback on the poll itself would also be interesting. It's intrinsically flawed, and it'd be interesting to see what people make of the ideal scenario it needs to assert any standard against which to compare the real situation.

Voted for friends only.
I sometimes get a bit too riled up when in an intense match and don't want to accidentally spam other people who don't know me with garbage (directed at the weighted physics dice of course :p).

Out of curiosity does anyone else act totally unlike themselves in games when things don't go well?

Very much so. I'm intensely sarcastic and a bit petulant. Occasionally I explode with Vesuvian rage but, that's what I find funny.

The voice comms in CQC seems to be one of the things they really messed up. Push to talk and the option to mute seems perfectly reasonable to me (like just about every other online multiplayer). I can't get my head around having voice comms automatically open without your permission. Even now I'm confused as to whether it even works or not. Trying to look in the comms menu while in a game is like asking to be killed. It's just so... clunky and weird (to me).

I tried a Capture The Flag match on my own this morning though and I realised how hard it is when you can't communicate with your team. We were all over the place and lost 0-3 very quickly. Having the option to press a button and say "I have their flag, need help" is important if you want to be competitive. I also made a couple of new friends (awww) due to being able to communicate with teammates.

There needs to be an option when entering CQC to set voice to everyone from a default of friends only. This option should also me selectable in the lobby.
