What's with the T7 hate?

The Type-7 is just yet another example of why the entire fleet needs to be rebalanced and to a certain degree re-imagined.

All of the Type-x class ships should have mine launcher dedicated hardpoints (mine launchers or nothing) on the rear for example. Lots of them. And while we're at it, make the mines and mine launchers a tad bit smarter. Don't point them forwards - who in their right mind would want to drop mines IN FRONT of their ship? Secondly, stop arming the mines the microsecond they leave the launcher. Far too many ships cannot use mine launchers, because the ship smashes into the mines. Give them a one second arming delay. Third, make mines smarter - if you're targeting a ship when launching the mines, have them slowly move towards that target at maybe 15 m/s. Not enough to catch up with a ship, but enough to get in the way. Fourth, make mines far harder to see - make them work as silent running vessels rather than the current mode of HELLO EVERY BODY!!! I'M A MINE - PLEASE GIVE ME AS WIDE A BERTH AS POSSIBLE!!!.

The T7 is the worst ship I have ever flown in. I had it for two hours and couldn't stand it after that, after quickly being introduced to the rebuy screen. It's not fun flying it. Went back to mining/trading in an asp until I could afford a python.

Oh, I absolutely hhhate that ship.

It's uglier than Donald Trump's mind. It flies like somebody glued the Principality of Monaco to a painfully-cheap lawnmower. It costs an insane fortune to buy, equip and rebuy, when compared to its feeble earnings-potential. It's larger than is justified by anything that can possibly be installed in it. It does literally everything worse than its multi-role competitors. It really, really likes exploding, whenever it's confronted with anything more dangerous than a small, floating piece of cheese.

I hope the Type-7's diegetic designer actually turns up somewhere in the story, at some point, just so we can have a chance of shooting down and capturing him, strapping him into a rigged T-7 and firing the deranged imbecile into the nearest convenient black hole.

It's not called the flying coffin for nothing. It is slow, doesn't manouver well, doesn't hold much for it's price, poor armour, poor shields, poor weaponry.

Should stay with a T6 or get an Imperial Clipper which is better in every way.

Tell us what you really think of the T7, come on don't be shy! :p

Most wittiest post I've read since I've been here. Well done, Sir.

I want a combat T7

1 huge 3 large hardpoints, 6 utility mounts, the agility/speed of a FAS and the shields of a vulture.

made by Lakon/Core Dynamics for the Allied navy.

basically a FAS on crack

I flew the T7 very briefly - I think for a trading CG in Deciat? The Palin outpost CG if I remember correctly.
As I am plegded to Mahon – not for real powerplaying but to show color – I was interdicted all the time. Mostly no chance for high-waking, I won't even mention fighting back or running.
This ship is a flying coffin and quite expensive in rebuy and maintenace. Almost all my insurance claims were in this ship even if I flew it only for a few days.
If you are not powerplay pledged the ship might work as pirates are mostly after your cargo. If the other guy wants to kill you, you are dead.

Thinking about it, the T7 has one secret sole purpose:

To make the other ships look even better by comparison.

...that's it.

Put G5 dirty drives on a Python and you'll be amazed at the way it flies. I put A5 thrusters on my trader Python modded the grade 5 and it works terrifically.

I have grade 3s on my mining Python, just because I could. Handles like a dream and boosts at 400.

It says a lot about the T7 that despite owning 13 ships I've never even considered buying one.

I'm not sure about a total re-imagining. When I was working my way up the ships the T7 was something that didn't even enter my mind about buying. It must have been the price that put me off. The prices of the ships is something that is easily adjusted.

T7: Less range than a T6, can't dock at outposts.
Python: More capacity than a T7, can dock at outposts.

I was about to mention the CR difference, but if I were to do that I'd have to compare it with the iClipper and that ship is hidden behind a rank wall so makes it sorta rough. Fact is it should carry more than the Python for sure as the T9 should carry more than any other ship, frankly. It used to (back in the days where anaconda was the biggest game in town) but then came the Cutter. Some balance passes are really needed more than ever from FD. Everything is out of whack.

I had one once. Looks like a cow, flies like a cow, fights like a cow, runs like a cow... well you get the idea. Switched to Imperial Clipper as soon as I could afford it. Wow. What a difference!

What is it - Monkey Island in space? :)

Naw, the Spacecow is the T9. It's so annoying to fly it's actually pleasurably annoying, and 500T of profit is good compensation for the pain.

Never flown the Clipper. Gotta do it sometime.

I got one briefly so that I could make a single delivery over 2 jumps and managed to lose it once, lol what a coffin, but the view!

As mentioned before, one day I'm going on a long exploration trip and I intend to use a heavily modified T7 for the task because goddamnit the T7 looks the part. Reminds me of event horizon for some reason, especially with that Black Friday skin.

T-7 is one of my big milestones during my ED career, I love that ship, maybe even more than my T-9. Flying these feels like serious business. Stats or performance is not important. Looks, atmosphere inside cockpit and feel of the vessel is everything.

I have a T7 parked up at Witchaul, just for doing the rare run loop lave/witchaul run.
Used to do it in a cobra, but the fuel scooping between jumps was awfuly long.

Switched to the T7 so i could do the jumps without having to refuel.

It flights like a beached whale, got the docking computer on it and i was making about a million an hr, but stopped cos it was a tad boring, as is most of the game to be honest.

Its pretty much useless for anything other than that, yeah you could gat a python to do rare runs, but i dont have that cash lying about, currently sitting on 14mil credits and cant be       to grind for more.

Whats the jump range fuel like for the clipper, i have the rank, is it a nice ship?

Maybe i'll sell the T7 for that.

Why so much hate :)

I got a T7 to complete a CG a few weeks back as I didn't have enough rank for an Imperial Clipper and barely enough credits.

After upgrading almost everything to A-rated it wasn't so bad and 200T cargo got me some nice credits from the CG.

As others have said I might even consider using one for exploration - just because I can in future :)

Would of used it again for this Morai CG but I'm over at Jaques currently in my Asp Explorer...
