I've played a bit of SC 3.0 since it came out.
Its almost there tbh. Considering where both games are going to be in 12 months time I think that will be it for Elite.
Would you like to put money on that?

you're joking right?
And yeah, Elite does play like a Beta. The core gameplay is paper thin, there are odd bugs everywhere, and we're always waiting for the day that they'll X feature to the game. Its basically a Beta.
I think you need to sit down as I have some bad news for you ..... one game unit on a steam sale does not = $60, so your claim of 120,000,000 USD income from ED is ever so "slightly" overstated.
Edit:
Actually - I'd like you to employ me, I think I'll get a good deal on my salary with your mathematics abilities![]()
Just getting to your ship is more exciting than the same, boring way ED does it. SC is way ahead of ED for game play
What's wrong with Elite? Right now, there are no skimmer missions or mining rush missions.
Few clarifications here;
* Money: I meant during early development and the KS phase Frontier didn't have funds; not anywhere close to CIG.
* Still in development: I was referring to the way CIG is still in development in Alpha, as opposed to ED which is in release and being worked on.^
^ Frontier chose a staggered roll-out, where as CIG is opting for a full roll-out. Frontier released a minimum viable product in order to get it out into the market, likely to start making cash on it (there are benefits to a staggered roll-out). CIG can afford not to though; they are doing everything Frontier is currently doing with Elite, only more fleshed out and in much greater detail but before they release the game to the market. I was saying that if Frontier had chosen CIG's route (if they had the man power and money), then ED, like SC, would still be in development (likely Alpha) given the size and complexity of the task ahead of both companies.
Is this a joke...or just clickbait looking for attention...you're GENUINELY telling me that having a third person view of a guy in "gilded plate armour" and walking him "into" your ship is "Exciting"
I still love the game (even if I am taking a break from it) but I think some things could be better.
t's the exact same experience, all the time, every time
Short of having him walk backwards...or doing a handstand I'm struggling to think exactly HOW you could factor in much variety for walking from a docking Gantry or Platform...to a corridor to the Cockpit...
Or am I missing something?
i'll tell you what's wrong with elite: the game design team. which is a shame, elite being a game.
other than that, it has some damn cool aspects, and could be so much frikken better ...
but as others said: that's just how it is, play the game or don't, video celebrities are irrelevant.
they have Jurassic IP
the cargo bay should have a use other than just visual - different cargo requires different utilities like maybe cooling and that cooling can get damaged or if you fly too close to a star, your cooling needs ramping up or you lose the cargo - stuff like that needs to be in there otherwise it's pointless.
Cargo Management WOULD be an interesting aspect to the game (Not Sure I'd prioritize it over improvements to Exploration/Mining/Flight/Comm etc) BUT I'm guessing the the 33rd Century It might be run from a Panel - I don't think you'll be going round checking the tie downs like you would on a truck today!!!
As for the view...NICE! But as someone that's not into Screenshots particularly there'll always be a trade-off between quality and FPS...particularly if you're playing at 1140P or even 4K resolution!!! Besides that image looks "Hand-Placed" anyway rather than an in-game creation...
It seems really obvious to me that the code they're writing for the Jurrassic park game will be used in ED to give us space legs and procedurally-generated alien mega fauna.
Is that not obvious to everyone else??

I do admit, running in to a port to order cargo, and having it sat physically on your ship is much better for gameplay than just clicking 'buy' from the bridge.
