What's your beef with this sublime game?

Engineering really is the only negative for me. It's a grind to unlock which is fine but its a grind that goes against the ethos of go where you want do what you want. You HAVE to mine, trade, do combat and explore to unlock all engineers. I really think FD should have added multi engineer requirements in. PvP is mostly a no go until you have grade 3+ engineering which is a shame. Other than that all other aspects of the game are good and those that aren't continue to improve.

I like engineering I just wish it was more diverse and easier to get. I've got friends with over 300 hours who just haven't bothered and even myself at 2500+ hours I'm still yet to unlock Colonia tech.

Round 2 of things that are sub-optimal:

- Passenger missions are just cargo missions except the cargo bitches at you and demands alcohol. Boring and uninventive.

- Player actions have little-to-no organic effect on the galaxy. You can hunt a billion pirates but the pirate factions will never go away, for example. Supplying a remote asteroid base in some nebula with boatloads of cargo will never allow them to build another outpost nearby, for another example. (By 'organic effect', I mean things that happen without FDev intervention - I'm not including things that FDev personally sets up or breaks on purpose, like CGs or burning stations).

- You can't use SRVs in multicrew.

- You can't do wings and multicrew at the same time.

- You can never actually destroy a player-made faction, even if there has been nobody pledged to it for years.

- NPC pilots hoover up ~10% of your income even when they're not doing anything.

- Missions are extremely repetitive. You're not gonna notice this when you're doing routine delivery missions, but if you're doing BGS missions and have raided the same installation 100 times, knocked down the same turrets to get to the same data terminal 100 times, it really is tedious.

- Complete lack of cross-platform play (meaning PC players won't see XBox players, etc). No Man's Sky got this up and running relatively recently.

- [I view this as negative. There are those who don't] BGS/powerplay work can be done from solo/PGs, completely eliminating the possibility of meaningful BGS-related PvP combat.

- Module storage is limited to 120 items. Late-game storage can only be increased by buying extra T10s to store crap on. You can't even use your Fleet Carrier space to store more modules.

- The game will randomly revert your controls back to default all the damn time. There are hundreds of bindings here.

A couple of very minor ones:
Python Wireframe paintjob is botched, it shows side view wireframe on top of the ship.
Water Giant HUD hologram is just a gas giant's (maybe class III) HUD holo's backside, showing the butt-crack,

And one bigger one:
Still can't have even one of my NPCs on any vacant chair in my ship.

For me, It's seeing all the locked-off that we can't land on, despite them sitting right there. I know landable Earth-likes are a herculean effort on FD's part, but... I can't be the only one who's ImMuRsIoN is shattered when you slam into that invisible barrier. Right? It's excruciating seeing a pristine ELW sitting right in front of me, and NOT being able to do anything with it. They could change the texture on all the non-landable planets to just a single color and nothing else, it wouldn't hardly affect gameplay at all (aside from credit gain, maybe).

Sorta similar situation with the current landable planets. The only gameplay difference between the current planets is gravity, materials, and whether or not you've landed on an ice planet. Hell, the only difference between Ice worlds and the rest is... you're srv may be a bit more slippery? Maybe more or less depending on gravity? I think surface temp might make a difference, but that might just be distance from the star, IDK.

I would go on about fleet carriers, but ya'll probably already know that story by now.

The playerbase is 'disappearing' anyway. Besides, I don't play with them, and don't ever want to.

Well if that's the case it wouldn't be very smart to wilfully lose a load more players now would it? All you have to do on the other hand is choose solo on your menu... problem solved. No need to ruin the game for thousands of other players...
