What's your take on this.

So I have theorized that the game is forcing me to learn and try something new, IE, surface mining. Is this a clever marketing ploy? I'm already invested in a Federal Corvette now

it does. materials are just there to herd people to do things, and that's pretty much what there is. however ... phosphorus!! that's really the bottom of the food chain!

any ship can fit a srv, and any landable planet has loads of phosphorus lying on the ground. just land, drive around admiring the view and following the hints of your scanner, you will stumble over rocks pretty soon, blow up and collect.

if you never used the srv then, true, you'll have to review your bindings and get used to it but ... it is actually good game content, actually much richer and deeper gameplay than the customization meta of a corvette, because you get to see actually very cool places. imo it's definitely worth it, you might even forget about that corvette ;-)

Who said I rushed a Corvette, I just enjoy mining rocks, I'm not into planetary landings and so forth. And believe me there's no rushing all the courier jobs necessary to get a Corvette. Don't over step you knowledge of what I've done or like to do.

I did try it last night, it's nauseating in VR.o_O

yes that can happen. that's a bummer. there are a couple of options in the settings menu, don't remember how they're called but they reduce the horizontal wobbling and are supposed to be a mitigation for that. other than that, take it in short sips until you get used to it ...

Google is a wonderful tool...you should try it some time ;)

I've been to the raw material traders, I've haven't set phosphorus to ignore, and I'm not referring to an open set of parameters specified to achieve certain goals. I'm speaking of a covert, behind the scenes algorithm at work to frustrate an easy solution to a stated requirement. I have no issue with having to do chores to earn things (that Corvette was a real pain to achieve), just a feeling that there's built into the game some "force" made to steer (Spelling,is that a cow?) a person to do unspecified things.
But don't take this thread with anything but a tongue in cheek attitude, I ask this because I have some free time. The mussings of a bored individual waiting for supper to be ready. Nothing more.
Have you considered the theory of synchronicity? It's as likely to be that  the alternative is surely too disturbing too contemplate.

... as that rarely comes up this day, i looked into my old notes on material spawns from laser mining rings - and maybe phosphorus will be very rarely found in some ring types. so maybe you are not mining the same rings as before? any metal rich should have it, though.

I've been looking for phosphorus to engineer my Fed. Corvette. I have yet to do any mining on the surface of any planet, to add, I don't know diddly nor squat about the SRV.

This just doesn't make any sense. Similar posts from this cmdr on other thread. Just playing around on the forums.
