When can we actually expect some real gameplay content?

That's more an argument of personal taste and preferences which is fine. Different strokes for different folks.

But explain to me why out of all my sci-fi nerd friends and family, I am still here?

FYI they all say the same thing Elite is boring.

Now I am here for the long haul but even I see this games limitations and ask for more dynamic content to be added. We are in 2017 after all.

The last release I actually count as a core gameplay enhancement was "Wings"... I guess I might count planetary landing at a push... But that's about it.

With the suggestion that we can't even expect co-op gameplay/missions soon that sort of put a nail in the coffin of my exectations TBH.

They probably want a game that hand holds them through a linear story and just don't get what a sandbox game is all about.

Yep I am not sure how we can do wing missions as the last time I tried it the missions were all completely different for each of us.

Lmao really handholds really thats your best rebuttal. Bro go play any of the games listed and your going to get wrecked.

Lol hand holding.

Not sure to be honest, ask them what they find boring about it. People like different things.

I would also like the content to be more dynamic, with more compelling reasons to do what we do. Hopefully that will come. But I am also happy with what we have as well.

They simply got bored with the jumping and grind. Then engineer hit and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Plus overwatch is really fun. I have tried to get them back they occasionally log in but not for long.

Like I said we are in 2017 I know they can program dynamic content into the game. Come on FD I believe in you.

What I find funny here, is that you guys always feel the need to put others down as less of players, because apparently wanting content automatically equals to "handholding", while that is absolutely not the case. Devaluing the other persons opinion that way is intellectually dishonest, does not provide anything to the discussion and is an empty statement that holds no meaning.
One can make such statements all day, but that does not mean you are right. I can only advise people to get off their high horses and engage in actual discussion instead of just being disgruntled that someone dislikes something in their favorite game.

If FD would add more content, that wouldn't make ED automatically Skyrim. Although, Fact is, it is way more successful. But having nothing but repeatable missions is not enough to hold players and statistics do support that statement.

But ED IS boring. I thought that was part of the charm of it for a lot of people.

Never been bored once in ED. Not sure exactly what you do in ED to make it boring. But I suppose playing the game in VR helps a lot there for me.

Nothing in the game forces you to repeat missions.

Agree, a lot people think that wanting content and more complex mechanics equals handholding and a story driven game. Its really funny.

What I see is 2 years since the game released and the core of the game is as shallow as day 1. We have more content but all placeholders, not engaging at all with bare bones gameplay mechanics.

Much truth here. For example I'm currently sitting on a planet on the last star below the galaxy. Gorgeous site but apart from shooting rng rocks what else can I do here.

When you realise that all the conflict zones, RES and nav beacons are exactly the same with unlimited ship spawning with no goal, then you see how shallow and boring the game is.

When you go to mine and see its mechanics, launch a limpet, shoot rock, gather pieces, and realise mining can't be more boring and SIMPLE.

When you go to explore and realise every system is there for you to jump with a press of a single button, then press 1 button to see the whole system and then wait for several seconds to "scan" a planet, you realise that the simplicity and boring is in the core of the game.

Its a matter of playing the game and realise its mechanics are designed for kids.

Its good you like it, but there are alot of people who want to PLAY with the game, play with their ships, play with the systems of the ship, feel like they are doing something instead of the game playing itself for them.

Indeed... Wanteds turning up to a RES just to fly around and commit suicide on your lasers... Hmmm...

Thank you Ignition have some rep. I am willing to shell out cash for content. It's not like I'm asking for free stuff. But seriously I have paid a boat load already and yet here I am alone. Lol

Haven't been to a Res site, CZ or Nav beacon in ages, but I do agree with you that they are pretty bad and need some serious improvement. I also agree about scanning of systems and planets, hell even having the info scroll down on the info panel, so you can read what the scan says would be a start.

I am not blind to the games shortfalls. I just do stuff that I enjoy, and I only play 2-3 times a week for a few hours each time, so that keeps things fresh for me as well.

Yeah, I didn't touch the game since months almost a year, that keep things fresh :D.

The only thing I enjoy for short periods of times is driving in the SRV but theres so little things to do with it.

I only hope this whole development direction of FD change and prioritize the core mechanics of the game. Having so massive galaxy with so little and SO BASIC tools to play is not fun .

You are the one who is delusional. Street Fighter having more in depth gameplay. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. That is literelly the funniest thing I have read/listened to all day.

Please tell me. How does Street Fighter have more depth then ED.

I'm not going to explain the mechanics of SFIV/V to you, I would be here all night. If you really want to know what makes the games so deep, just google SFIV/V advanced techniques and settle down for hours of reading. When you've done that, fire up whichever version of the game you have and master those techniques for any of the characters and it will become immediately apparent why SF has more depth than ED.

You don't seem to understand do you. I have completed the game a number of times. Why would I want to do it again with some technique which I don't need to do or use. Sorry, but that is not depth in my eyes, and I have no wish to waste my time learning them, if I don't know them already.

Sure I may not know every single technique, but so what. Does learning that suddenly give me more content in the game. Sorry but no it doesn't. For me, that isn't content. Its like the Engineers, on their own they are not content, but they give us reasons to go out and explore the different content within the game.

Advanced techniques in ED is flying completely with FA off, but that doesn't give me more content. I am no master at that, and I am not sure I will ever be.

You clearly don't understand what the word depth means in relation to video games.

You should probably watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVL4st0blGU
