When will it become a game? Will it become a game?

When .... SC becomes a game then we'll compare those notes ... till then ....

Agreed. As I've said before and I'll say it again... I can't wait till SC finally releases even a BETA so people can whinge all over SC's boards over the same exact types of scenarios. Different in implementation, sure- but you're going to have the same issues no matter what game you play- you're going to have to put effort forward, and you're going to have to deal with things that aren't exactly as "you" would want them to be.

ED doesn't have "Space Legs" yet, but I've no doubt whatsoever it's in planning and they'll bring it in eventually. It was part of the original vision, and it will happen. I'm patient enough to wait until it's properly implemented instead of waiting 5 years for the whole game just to have one feature I'd like to see in addition to the whole game.

"Oh look at SC" this, "Oh but SC" that, etc... then you'll see them come crawling back to ED no doubt, hoping people "forget" what they said in comparison.

My question is what more meaningful things can you do in an anaconda that you can't do in a Cobra?

That doesn't make sense though does it. If as you say it is a boring game, how does not having an imagination actually make it less boring?

Because having imagination you realise how dull the game is.

I like the game but it seems to be missing the point of fun and wonder (yes I said wonder). Just watching some Star Ctizen youtube vids and you can get out your ship and run around. In Elite I am waiting for 5 tonnes of Fujin tea which, oh look, only drop twice. It is things like this which are really off putting for me. Why would they only ake 10 tonnes of Fujin tea I wonder (because it is enforced grind). Ifind my like away every day at work and, Oh look, I have to do it in entertainment as well. Jesus Christ, please sort it out. Then I have to grind and grind. Is not entertaining in the least, more of a way to keep people playing. I know this all takes time to sort out, but I am sick and tired of this mentality. Just .

They made Elite with grind gameplay because the ammount of mechanics are very low so the only way to "expand" the life of the game is through grind.

ED's sandbox is not deep yet, so they added a lot of grind to extend the playability.

Eve Online solved this with the endless cycle of creation and destruction (emergent gameplay). Let the players build and destroy their own things which leads to the endless cycle... In ED we can't build or destroy player managed things yet. All we can do is own ships. This will change when we have Fleet Carriers.

The Fleet Carrier is like a mobile base, but it's somewhat limited for people who want to build their own settlements in space. They want more than just a player owned capital ship.

Elite will become a game if and only if they finally shut down the servers and keep their promise to release an offline standalone version of the software, at which point it will finally be possible for people to mod Elite into a game.

There is nothing in the game that forces you to travel 40 minutes to another station. You choose to do that. Don't like It, don't do it. ED is all about choices.

Same applies for any other activity in the game
I am talking about gameplay not choices
Should I have to pay invidia or Intel because i can choose to not turn on my pc ?

It's been around for a while now (long enough I would say) do you think we will ever see the addition of properly developed, fun and engaging, gameplay mechanisms?

It is, it already is. It already has. Does that answer your question? Ok, next.

It's an experience, I cannot deny, but I don't feel that they have provided us with a game yet.

Well, it IS a game. Your feelings seem to be a bit misguided.

It's actually one of my favorite games. I guess it's just not your game.

I'm not entirely sure. It's a good question. But, I just don't feel that there is much 'game' here. It's lovely looking and impressive but is it any more than that?

no one holds your hand and leads you here, you have to find your way all by yourself

if thats new to you - welcome
