Where and how to find a debris field??

Look for systems in a state of War. I think they turn up there fairly frequently.
Engineering materials.
Which mats are you after? There may be better places, like certain types of USS.
What material are you looking for, specifically? I think Dav's Hope covers a lot of stuff that is commonly found in a debris field. Have you looked into that?
I'd also be thinking Combat Aftermath USSs, but it depends on the mats. Dav's is quite good (I picked up one bunch of Polymer Capacitors last night) but a wee bit too random for my taste.
Besides the materials spawning there, the perk to Dav's Hope are all the CMDR's hanging out there to visit with.
Stupid as it sounds but mechanical scrap. I've been hunting USSs for two days and figured a debris field would be much easier. I know you can destroy transport ships but not really in that
Systems experiencing outbreak usually have lots of debris fields.

Ok, no mechanical scrap at Dav's Hope. I'd try 777's advice first, but would also filter for systems experiencing Civil War as Grey mentioned.
I have and I've already found more mechanical scrap in just one debris field than I have in two days. Well happy

I was finding some in combat aftermath USSs but at a much slower rate. Now I have a persistent place to stock up. So thanks again for all the help o7
I find plenty in USS's (Combat Aftermath especially around CZ's, Degraded Emissions just about anyplace, and of course, what I make from NPC).
