Newcomer / Intro Where are the highest paying jobs?

Is the pay for jobs uniform across the galaxy or is the pay better in some places then others?

If the pay is better in some places what are the current best systems to be in to make money doing passenger flights?

Just gotta get in good with the different factions in the system. Just work one system until they all love you and you will see your paycheck go way up! They just nerfed passenger missions....so those aren't really viable at the moment.

When did they nerf passenger missions, was it recently?

I've been doing passenger missions at Upsilon Aquarii and I make about 100 mil per hour with a Python with economy cabins. Yes, you have to Ally with the factions first but that doesn't take too much time and you are off! I'm up to 2.2 billion credits at this point.

And are you doing that right now? I am nearby and all the missions have been cut to <1 million since last night

This is what I read yesterday as well. Before I was making literally up to $120-150 per hour running passenger missions out of Rhea....no joke.

You guys are right all the missions are gone. There is no way that I am going to twiddle my thumbs at super cruise for ~2,000,000 ls and only get 400K credits for 16 passengers. Frontier is going to spoil this game for me.

Yeah it kinda blows. Luckily for me I earned a bunch of cash. I'm now trying to get to Elite in exploration.....see how long that takes!

If you kill 2 elite anacondas you'll earn more than that.
I think FDev did neuter the passenger missions a bit too strongly.
To be fair they said in the livestream that they were aware of that and that these missions would be paying a bit better again in the near future.

That's terrible, I was making a lot more money on passenger flights then doing cargo.

So what is the current best way to make money, is it mining, cargo or something else?

The best way of making money in game is doing the thing you best enjoy. The easiest however maybe loosing yourself deep in the black for a few weeks scanning ELW's and Water worlds etc.

Passenger missions are not that nerfed. You can still make several million in a trip, if you have influence and a decent sized ship. Exploration is an easy way to make money, and probably the lowest risk of any job as well (though I personally find it tedious). Massacre missions are a good way to make money through combat. Trade routes will probably make you the most...but you need to make sure you have access to the systems with rares and I personally find it boring AF (even more boring than exploration).

EDIT - In the station I'm at right now I am seeing a passenger mission to a system 15ly away for 2.5 million. And that is just one mission, as you can stack them. If this is "nerfed" then I have to say it's not a big deal.

What system do you speak of? :D

My biggest problem with Passenger Missions is there don't seem to be many normal service bus type requests. Most I'm seeing are either poorly paid tours (400k for over 40 jumps) or a request to travel 10k's of LY to survey a planet, for around 5mill credits. That was in Ceos/Sothis, I've now jumped out and wandered across into Alliance space but still not seeing any real use for my passenger cabin.

What are you trying to achieve by sitting there credit grinding? Credits are just a means to an end.
.
Seizewell - are you allied with the mission giver? If not then the payouts will be lower and passenger missions are not the best way to increase REP, you can take more missions and complete them faster. Also if it is the controlling faction then you can REP up by handing in exploration data, bounties, selling goods (possibly others). However, I would agree I see many more tourist missions than transport missions and not enough missions to allow me to stack so I generally don't do passenger missions unless I'm in the mood for it. Cargo doesn't get grumpy about being scanned, is rarely illegal and certainly doesn't demand I go buy something else or see something else on the way :)

There's some really high paying missions being offered to carry cargo from Hutton Orbital to nearby stations. You can buy and outfit the cheap Anaconda there too, so you can stack a load of those missions. You should be able to make over 100 mil per hour.
