Newcomer / Intro Where are the highest paying jobs?

What system do you speak of? :D

I am currently in the Soch system, but I am seeing this all over the place. That 3.5 million credit mission is only 15ly away.

I'm in 78 Ursae Majoris (thought I would start work on my alliance Rank). The most a normal pax mission had to offer was 100k and one was just commodities and rep! That could be because I need a higher rep as said but I'm sure at lower levels in Fed Space a couple of weeks ago, I was seeing much higher payment on offer. I'll see if it improves over the next couple of days.

I've been doing passenger missions at Upsilon Aquarii and I make about 100 mil per hour with a Python with economy cabins. Yes, you have to Ally with the factions first but that doesn't take too much time and you are off! I'm up to 2.2 billion credits at this point.

How do you ally with the factions?

I'm sitting at Allen Hub in the Upsilon Aquarii system.

You take missions that increase influence. INF is for station influence (not Empire). REP is for Empire. You will want to gain influence with the controlling faction for the station. You will see this noted in the mission screen at the station (it'll also be in the info on your system map).

So look for INF+++ missions. Those will improve your standing with the station the fastest.

Fun Fact: The better your influence with the station, the longer it takes for them to scan you, and the less likely they are to try. So if you are running illegal goods (or people) establishing Ally status with the station will help you a lot. Once I was allied with stations while doing passenger missions, it was actually rare for them to try to scan me at all.

If you still want to make money doing passenger missions I'd suggest getting an orca/beluga/type-7 and stacking transport VIP's. Dolphin's cabins are too small to really fit decent first class/luxury cabins.

Small first class/luxury cabins that fit 8 or less seem to pay decently. Making 35-40m/hour in my fully kitted Beluga, which doesn't compare to Smeaton but is still decent for being afk half the time.

You WILL need to learn how to dock quickly or smuggle however, so might not be good for beginners. You get a criminal almost every run, and the consequences of getting scanned or taking hull damage is high.

I found the best money is not in Luxury passengers. Because they are rare and demanding . Any ship can mount first class cabins which will accommodate almost anyone. A mix of First Class and Economy is the best way to go IMO. Economy are great because they are easy to stack. Luxury passengers do not like to share cabin space.

I put economy-first class passengers in my luxury cabins all the time. VIP's rarely if ever go over 6 slots, so for my class 6 cabins I just buy all luxury cabins since they fill 8. Size 5 cabins I'll fill with first class. It makes it so I can fill up all 9 cabins in about 3 board flips.

The highest payout I've done in a 30 minute run was something like 42 million, but that was with multiple luxury 6 missions...average payouts are ~25m. But since modules sell back for 100% there's literally no downside in getting size 6 luxury cabins for transporting VIP's.

If you're still doing short-range bulk missions then yeah low-quality cabins make sense, since you actually need passenger-count.

I await correction but I believe this is incorrect. REP is for increasing reputation (both local and major faction) and INF is for increasing the influence of the chosen faction so used for back ground simulation. I know sod all about the BGS I'm afraid so can't tell you for sure quite how that works.
.
oh an by the way I posted a little while ago about how to raise reputation to get the highest paying missions...not only missions count

You take missions that increase influence. I.............

As Rob says, this is totally wrong.

You improve your reputation with a minor faction by undertaking missions with REP either +, ++ or +++ . It is your reputation that progresses you from neutral to cordial to friendly and eventually allied with that minor faction. (You can also increase your reputation in other ways but this reply is only about missions.)

Simultaneously, improving reputation with a minor faction also has the effect of increasing your reputation and advancement progress with the major faction that the minor faction is aligned with.

The influence (INF +, ++ and +++) aspects of missions are a part of the BGS manipulation that some people are into. Increasing the influence of a minor faction in that system changes its standing and conditions with respect to the other minor factions. See the BGS sub forum if you want to get into that.

Just to add a note: Bounty hunting in RES in your home system will result with losing Rep with some of your agents. It's very possible to go to an Unfriendly status and from there to go to "Hostile". Both of these will make CZ much more interesting, as you'll be automatically attacked by any ship that is aligned to you as "Hostile".

Dropping into a CZ and being jumped by 3 to 5 ships is not a good way to start out in the CZ. You don't even get to pick sides. LOL.

Which is what I was doing, because it is quick turn around and lower risk (less chance of interdiction attempts if you are going to a neighboring system as opposed to a system 10 jumps away...also, luxury passengers are much more likely to demand stops or products). Short range economy missions are more profitable for credits/hr on average in my experience. I have tried both. The only trick is stacking multiples to the same destination. Which is why it's important to be picky about the system(s) you ally with.

I only fill my cabins with transport VIP's, which are always 1 jump away. I've never actually done any requests either - as long as I don't commit any docking fines or get scanned they will never fail. It's higher risk, but after hitting allied I'm pulling in nearly 60m/hour from this, which the bulk transports simply don't compare to.
