Welcome CMDR's!

Bran here with another deep and meaningful thread! :D

This ones all about your landing habits... As in where do you like to do it the most?

Which of the above options floats your boat, or lands it in this case (I really must work on better jokes, sorry :D)

Vote away and of course if your feeling verbose leave a comment and let us know of your joy at landing at your preferred location!

As always please keep it clean and civil so we don't disturb the mods any more than they already are. ;)

EDIT: Mods, I made a boo boo in the title... It should read Where do you prefer to land?

Could one of you chaps please amend this for me?

Where i prefer to land is surface settlements. You can get the best views from them and landing process is much more interesting than landing on space station. And planets are really beautiful and sometimes lightning is just perfect.

Where do i usually land? To space stations because most of game play is in space and space stations have better services.

Wherever happens to be something of current interest of mine - planets, stations ... no matter, anything's fine. One the other hand, stations/outposts I "prefer" in a way because they're fastest to land on.

Agreed. But I would enjoy it more if the FPS didn't drop so much.

I like Outposts (or "Space platforms" in Bran-speak ;)) but finding the pad can be a pain.

The touch-down sequence when landing on planets leaves me cold - it doesn't feel like I've just touched down a 500T vessel (even on a higher G planet). I guess without physical feedback it will always be this way but I'm comparing it to other types of landing. I wonder if anyone else feels this way?

I'd prefer to dock on a big ship.. lol..

nvm I vote for station because it's just nice to look at..

Ground stations.
Currently having the habit of always taking one or two surface missions when playing intergalactic postal delivery guy.
Just love flying towards ground bases, especially these larger round ones.
I really hope they'll expand them in the near future. Make them more like real cities with roads and such.
Although, at the end of an evening, I'm also very pleased to see and land in the station in orbit of my current home planet.

Space station. Anything not forcing me to rotate while docking defies the reason for which I bought a joystick.

Big orbitals are more convenient (quicker docking, better stocked outfitters and shipyards), but I do prefer to land at large ground stations - there's a real sense of scale that a planet surface gives.

GPU goes loopy on the ground landings which I don't see anywhere else (AMD 7970), so I tend to stay away from them. I've not seen much in the way of content that draws me to the surface for a long time, so not missing out much.

I prefer ground stations for the views and to practice my planetary approaches.

But I end up mostly using outposts, because I live in an undeveloped backwater!

I choose platform from the point of ease.

From the standpoint of things that are available, the stations have a greater (on average) availability of line items. IE: Large pads, shipyards, etc.

So if the question is purely from the standpoint of landing mechanics, then the platform wins. Unless your flying a T-9, Anaconda, etc. or course....

I couldn't care less especially if my canopy has been wiped out! I usually choose a station or platform depending on closeness, ship size and what's available. But I'll land on planet surfaces just as easily. It also depends on what missions I'm carrying, whatever pays the most I'm doing no matter where I have to land...

Ground platforms.

But I mainly like landing in the "terminator" of the light (the bit where it goes from light to dark) for all the lovely shadows and details.

Nothing quite beats flying into a surface port surrounded by mountains or deep within a valley. Am looking forward to the enhanced planatery lighting once 2.1 rolls out.

station is best for me if I have "questionable" cargo [where is it] and is seems I carry these items often, so I choose it.

That said there are some incredible views from many platforms and ground stations so they all have there place,
I should have picked all of the above or "I don't mind" it seems :)
