Stations and outposts. Ground bases are cool and you really get to 'land' your ship due to gravitational impacts on the stability. I don't like to land on bare grounds though as the ship always seem to take damage every time even though the landing gear is down.

Voted planet surface because i'm out exploring and have been since horizons hit -.-
When I get back I guess it's a matter of efficiency and current objective.

If I have an objective then that wins.
If I'm in a small/medium ship then outpost all the way, it's quickest.
If I'm in a large ship then station for the same reason.

If I'm playing for fun planetary station... So all of the above really :p

If I have the time, I like to make it back home to Crick City and return my ship to the fleet. They get skittish if one of them is away from the pack for too long :D

:) true I hear my ships have been "testing the wire" in Rafferty's, and for any Buffalo heard barbed wire is only a suggestion!

A local buffalo ranch the "Triple U" had a Bull took a hike one night thru 7 fences and well into the next county, [woah]

Outposts - the lack of gravity and free approach vector leads to some elegant (and not so elegant) triple salko with twist manoeuvres to the pad.

It is a station

But more than that I like the full sized big **** Orbis station I like the ring round them and look inside at then to see the green internal surface and to remember that early post that said that the inside area of the orbis ring was a large as the entire play area in Grand Theft Auto - and thats just one station

Space platform, i.e. what I call an outpost. I love their modular design and how the landing pads can be arranged in all kinds of different (well, multiples of 90°) angles and you really get that feeling of being in an orbital station, no up or down, no gravity, just the endless void and a planet as a backdrop visible from right there on the landing pad.

Btw, I really wish most outposts and starports were in in very low orbits.
