Newcomer / Intro Where does it store ED screenshots?

Note if you use EDDiscovery when running the game on a PC you can set it to store the pictures wherever you want give them a more meaningful name and convert them to something more compact than a .bmp file.

I can take and save a screenshot in Win10 by holding down the Windows key and the Alt key then pressing Print Screen.
This combo saves the screenshot automatically. It should be in the Pictures folder, but mine ends up in videos.

This saves a .jpg.
The .jpg is the same size on disk as the .bmp files created by Elite's high def screenshots after I convert them into a .jpg - so I'm guessing they're the same resolution.

Unfortunately I'm away from my games PC at the moment. So I can't experiment.
Might be worth a go ?????

As aRJay said, it's better to use EDDiscovery. That way you get a record of where you took the picture and you can take high resolution pictures (four times as many pixels as are on your screen.)

Another note: Alt-F10 is hijacked by my Nvidia drivers and it can't be re-bound in Elite. It can, however, be rebound in Nvidia GeForce Experience. Hit Alt-Z to bring up the panel and change the keyboard shortcut.

To be slightly more accurate: it's being hijacked by Geforce Experience, not the drivers themselves.

This might be interesting since ED saves as a .BMP which then has to be converted to .JPG if its to be posted or something. Most sites don't allow .BMP

EDDiscovery makes the BMP invisible. As soon as it is created it is converted to a JPG and the BMP is deleted. I assume EDMP works the same way.
