I read somewhere that F10 takes a screenshot within ED. Where does it store the screenshot?
I wonder why only the high resolution in solo mode ?If you press F10 and left ALT at the same time you'll get high resolution screenshot. It only works in solo though.
I think because when you take high res screenshot, game pauses or "freezes" for up to few seconds while screenshot is being generated. It would create a nightmare from the instancing point of view.I wonder why only the high resolution in solo mode ?
Unless it's changed recently it also works fine in private groups as well. It's just open mode that it's disabled in.If you press F10 and left ALT at the same time you'll get high resolution screenshot. It only works in solo though.
Judicious. This should be confirmed.I think because when you take high res screenshot, game pauses or "freezes" for up to few seconds while screenshot is being generated. It would create a nightmare from the instancing point of view.
As aRJay said, it's better to use EDDiscovery. That way you get a record of where you took the picture and you can take high resolution pictures (four times as many pixels as are on your screen.)
Another note: Alt-F10 is hijacked by my Nvidia drivers and it can't be re-bound in Elite. It can, however, be rebound in Nvidia GeForce Experience. Hit Alt-Z to bring up the panel and change the keyboard shortcut.
I can take and save a screenshot in Win10 by holding down the Windows key and the Alt key then pressing Print Screen.
This combo saves the screenshot automatically. It should be in the Pictures folder, but mine ends up in videos.
This saves a .jpg.
The .jpg is the same size on disk as the .bmp files created by Elite's high def screenshots after I convert them into a .jpg - so I'm guessing they're the same resolution.
Unfortunately I'm away from my games PC at the moment. So I can't experiment.
Might be worth a go ?????
