so far no response from the operator of the website.
Site's been down since at least May 26th. I reached out to Cmdr @CapitanAceRimmer but so far no response.

Because it's a Wayback Machine link to an archived copy from earlier this year.
Yes it's the Wayback machine which is a project to backup the web, and if a site disappears it can sometimes be found there. The static links on the pages will work, but the dynamic stuff running on the backend of course won't. Still it's better than nothing when a site disappears. If there is something dear to you, you can also trigger it to make a snapshot of some website, but yes it's likely that not everything works.
