"Where have all the planets gone..."

Music:
On arrival in system: Yes, big cymbals clash
In SC to a station: Yes, same theme but new orchestration, kind of tubular bells-y
Breaking out of SC at an outpost: Bombastic brass lol, now I recall why I turned it off.

I have not yet gone dirtside but I suspect the same will be true when I do: Music for me is technically fine but not terribly enjoyable.

Latest "diary" -- 15 systems surrounding HR 4734, an excellent Rocket Tea source, 2050/T buy, but at an outpost -- Keyes City -- surrounded by 31 FCs, so you can't bring the big buckets in to scoop up the bestest-buy goods. I parked J'S RESOLUTION in a nearby Anarchy system to avoid the parking crunch and lessen SC time when hauling 188 T of Tritium in my Python. While running the juice back and forth I took time out to explore the nearby surrounds, all within about 25LY of my base.

Out of those 15 systems, only 4 had planets, but the planetary systems I found were respectable enough. And again there was a selection filter in place that could have biased me against finding more planetary systems -- I only explored systems I had not yet visited (better chance of good UC rewards that way) and most of which did not have gov'ts (less chance of getting zero in UC payout), so that skipped a lot of systems with planets that I had already visited and/or which have governments. If those were put in the survey mix my percentage for planetary systems would have gone way up.

Heading for the black now, unsettled regions, where I can survey without bias -- all star types, all systems, regardless of gov't or lack thereof.

Well, Commanders, much ado about nothing, just an odd combination of selection effects and dumb luck (not the good kind) hinted at a paucity of planets, but my first carrier jump out of the bubble has put paid to that hypothesis. Good thing, too!

My carrier took me to a system with 10 planets, all of which were unmapped, 5 of which were HMC, and two with pristine icy rings. The outermost of this pair was slimly endowed, but the innermost?

I know where I'm gonna be for the next couple of days. Tritium, Alex, Grandi, LTD, VO and (yuck) Bromellite, but with 23+kT cargo capacity I think I'll even take the Bromellite. It'll pay for limpets at least.

This single system paid 2.78M in UC before First Mapping awards. Who says you can't pay for your carrier upkeep with exploradata? Let's not even talk about mining. :D
