Why do you think you are entitled to "another few months" of entertainment? I am not saying I am super thrilled about every design decision they made. Heck, I would radically change direction if I were in control. But you seem to be the poster child for entitlement when you casually claim to be annoyed that a free update gives you only a few more months of entertainment due to a ship that is "so fun to fly and so well designed".

Speaking as somebody who isn't an LEP holder looking for my "pound of flesh", I'm genuinely gagging for the opportunity to throw some money at FDev for a paid update.
Let's face it, a paid update means they've got something substantial to offer and if there's something new to do in the game, I want to do it.

I am about the least pitchfork of the LEP villagers but even I am starting to wonder why I shouldn't set fire to Castle Brabencula.
I mean, when I bought my LEP, closed Betas that you had to pay for otherwise were very much a thing. Frontier: closed Beta? On something? Maybe?

Same here. I'm waiting to see how the Q4 update fares before I buy any more cosmetics.
I've played many other games that offer far more engaging gameplay than Elite. There is no reason that FD cannot make Elite substantially better even if they simply put modest resources into the game. It's gotten to the point now that Braben and FD have to decide if they're serious about continuing Elite as a viable game or not.

I have eaten far better food than shrimps. Strangely enough, that appears to be subjective. Furthermore: you dont know what they have or have not invested, nor what is coming. Also, the game is factually already 'viable', assuming you mean any definition beyond 'me no like me upset!!!!!'. FD and DB have no decision to make now, they made it already whether you like and/or understand it or not.
The issue of the "value" of the LEP is directly connected to the current state of the game and the value we've seen from "paid" content so far.
If you think that's somehow "off-topic" then you have no idea what the discussion in this thread is referring to. If Elite were a high-quality game that was on track to deliver a series of high-quality paid content expansions then I doubt the LEP owners would be unhappy right now. Since that's not the case, and we've gotten low-quality game content so far, it puts LEP owners in an even worse position then they already are in terms of value for what they paid. Having spent $180 USD on what has so far only delivered a very underwhelming $45 USD Horizons expansion is a particularly poor situation to be in for those players.
Leppers are absolutely bussed. They're going for realistic windshield textures for when space legs comes out.
- I think its because of the cosmetic shop being such a success and the strong focus. Evidence: It gets a new entry every week as regular as the server maintenance. Remember before it took off a new item in the cosmetic shop was a rare event and something to get excited about.
- Maybe campaign to stop buying skins so frontier is more attracted to expansions again for revenue?
- Frontier should just give store credit for one paint job a month to lifetime owners and fully go for their freemium model as they're doing that anyway in spirit.
Actually don't do any of the above, but what's happened i guess is the marketing genius at frontier is thinking to have both a premium priced, expensive AAA release and also freemium business practices and can't make up their mind. Each model trips up the other in some way so limbo at every decision.

Also i hate the marketing person at frontier. The JWE purchase offerings were so heartless, effortless and sterile i can't believe frontier actually thought that was acceptable treatment for fans. They only thing upstanding about it was above average price.

Sorry but anyone reading the forums can see widespread discontent among the playerbase regarding the state of gameplay in Elite.
Obsidian Ant's series of videos last year have clearly explained many of those issues and FD has done nothing to make the core gameplay any better since then.
Who said anything about "entitlement"? Somehow certain individuals enjoy labelling any sort of reasonable expectation as "entitlement" as if we should expect nothing whatsoever from Elite or that we shouldn't hold the game to even basic quality standards.

Yeah for sure. Im no help.. over a few accounts ive bought horizons many times over. Ie, frontier has made multiples more than they would have if they just charged for full expansions without freemium cosmetics.
Having said.. im pretty much full now, every ship im going to fly and every covering for it has a cosmetic option i like. You look stupid when you have more than one paint job for a ship because you only fly one.* I think its perfect timing for frontier to add spacelegs with cosmetic coffee machines and fishtanks.
*Its only mediocre paintjobs you're not completely happy with that make you buy more, and you catch onto this quickly (though support is always happy to help!)
I can understand that.
I wouldn't advocate some kind of deliberate "boycott" but I think it's perfectly reasonable that people might not want to invest more money in something that might appear to be reaching an "end of life" status.
I honestly don't think that FDev has plans to abandon ED and I do think they have major plans for expansions but I also think they appear to be lacking direction and they're not very good at striking a balance between creating suspense and generating publicity.
Even if I saw DB and Sandro on some kind of a podcast where they were talking vaguely about all the things they'd "like" to do in ED, it would, at least create some confidence that they've got ideas which they might be investigating or even working on.
If DB was to say, for example, something like "Ultimately, I'd like to see planets populated with cities that the player has to fly over to find the starship port" I wouldn't hold FDev to providing that within the next 12 months but it would, at least, inspire a bit of confidence that there's some kind of "vision" in place that they're working toward.
Right now, I can think of a bunch of things that could do with "fixing" but I don't see any signs of a real "direction" ahead. [where is it]

I think paid dlc is a bad model because it divides the galaxy and discourages purchase of the base game and thus sales of cosmetics. So I think that as soon as possible fdev should make horizons a free expansion, give the LEP players a full cosmetics pass, and then offer that same pass to everyone else for a bit more money.
