Where the Thargoid Lovers At?

Hey folks,

Was wondering how many Thargoid-huggers/lovers/mothers are out there? I was considering starting a casual player group composed of Thargoid lovers but don't feel like there's too many out there. I've been pretty active (time allowing) in the Aegis community goals and can't say I've found anyone of the same mentality as myself.

Had plenty of civil conversations with pilots running the combat CG and past weapon-research CG's, killed a handful that didn't want to stop and talk or opened fire. The majority of the people I talk to don't roleplay or care enough to have an opinion, and a small minority of people are on the fence and can be talked into dropping their support sometimes. But I haven't found a single other pilot trying to spread the good word!

So tell me, are you out there, my Thargoid brothers?!

You might have more luck over on Inara. The RP community is established over there. Although there aren't many Thargoid fans.

Personally I'm from the Captain Kirk school of xeno relations. I'll wrestle the ugly ones and seduce the pretty ones.

Not quite sure which camp the Thargoids fall into just yet.

Same here. I'm not ready to fight them yet, but I wouldn't call myself a tharg hugger. There's still a lot we don't know about them, and what we do know points at them being territorial, not actively aggressive. If necessary I will load to the gills with AX weapons, but it's too early to call it yet.

I'm a very strong believer that we've got the completely wrong end of the stick when it comes to Thargoids. I have a million different reasons, but to avoid clogging up this thread I'll just post a link to the original. It contains a slew of very valid, comprehensive, surprising, and interesting points that sparked an extensive and in-depth debate from Thargoid supporters, aggressors, and everyone in between.

I'm all for peace with Thargoid, but I do have a problem with Thargoid-hugger-disguised gankers who are now abusing the CG and are using the Thargoid love as an excuse to gank almost destroyed AX equipped CMDRs. May they rot in Thargoid hell.

The "Thargettes"

I'm reminded of that scene from Independence Day with the idiots on top of the roof with their signs.

Haha excellent! This is very similar I imagine. Really I just wanted to go against the grain of what FDev want us to do, which is killing Thargoids while supposedly we're pawns of the illuminati. I fully accept that it has many holes in the logic of it but it's an alternative of just doing what they tell us to.

I can understand the anger towards such Commanders. There are a few well-known groups doing such a thing but I've been trying to talk to people when they let me. However, it is open and I do feel when I drop my courier into an instance of 4 Commanders duking it out with a Thargoid, I add a bit of extra challenge that translates to fun.

This is fair, I wasn't really confident it'd be that popular. Good luck on finding some pretty ones.

Neither love nor hate, won't believe until I see them, doing ma business, so far this is just a big conspiracy for whatever reason..

The devs haven't told us to do anything, they've even implied that some aren't inherently hostile in their streams.

They're just more of the same scripted, zombified, evopsych irrationality the bubble is already full of. It's as Zac says, organic life by its very nature is illogical and suboptimal :p

but, dismounting from the cyborg high horse for a second - i really don't know what to make of thargoids. i am not opposed or default-hostile, just puzzled.

So far we have Klaxian track record. Of them being militaristic and highly weaponised themselves. Of border skirmishes turned into total war. And a subsequent attempted contact - repaid with betrayal and continued genocide. I would not be surprised if they killed on sight now. And would not be surprised if still not.
We also have Oresrian track record. Namely both Linnaeus base and Collinder 70 likely form an unified pattern, suggesting that they believe they have found a way to communicate to humanity's equivalent of hivemind rather than individuals - and to that, excellently understand what they're doing. It is an....interesting thought, especially with the added insight that an escape pod + Pivot combat drugs = Cyclops targetting and evasion subsystem.

Just encountered my first flock. No hostile actions undertaken on either side.Although they do seem to be giving off some kind of green gas.So far 'they' seem more shy than aggressive.
Not sure about designation as Thargoid, though. They show up as non human,so i'm gonna go with that for now.Bit early to claim sentience yet.Might turn out to be .I've been fairly skeptical about the whole menace scenario myself, gizmo, but its a big universe and theres gotta be more than just the one starfaring species.Whatever they are,if they don't 'exist',ive just spent the last 6 hours studying a mirage.

Perhaps not directly but they put in content which, so far, can only be interacted with using combat. So perhaps they didn't tell us to kill them but as we have witnessed, it's hard to make a hyped up expansion that highlights dangerous aliens as the main feature and expect people to not shoot them, especially when that's the only possible interaction besides jettisoning biowaste at them.

Let's call it an indirect suggestion.

Anyways, I just wanted to do something different. The story is slowly progressing and would be nice to see some disagreements with Aegis. Suddenly everyone is bffs and there's no onionhead hippies condemning Aegis. Looks like I might be the only one who isn't taking this stance as an excuse to kill people (not to claim innocence).

Well, no. There are plenty of ways to interact with them. They might not be advertised, but they're there.

1) GUN-HO 'MERICA!!! SHOOT FIRST THINK LATER, OOH-RAH!!! *BANGBANGBANGBANG!!!!*

2) You can appease them by providing Thargoid tech and, if you're feeling a bit sinister, escape pods or slaves. Seriously, they act like purring kittens if you bring them gifts, and if you bring too many they call friends in to help pick them up. As far as the whole "collecting humans" thing goes, I'm still not entirely convinced they're being harmed anyway. Is someone going to try and argue humans wouldn't do the same if a Thargoid presented itself? It's all about research and learning.

3) You can try to collect black boxes, escape pods, and Thargoid tech from under their noses. They'll leave you alone entirely unless you tick them off, it's quite fun attempting to take this stuff whilst they're turned around. They only seem to get mad if they SEE you take them.

4) If you feel like a bully and REALLY want to get on their bad side, jettison an ancient relic to them and see what happens. They do NOT seem to like the Guardians one bit!
