Where the Thargoid Lovers At?

Well, no. There are plenty of ways to interact with them. They might not be advertised, but they're there.

1) GUN-HO 'MERICA!!! SHOOT FIRST THINK LATER, OOH-RAH!!! *BANGBANGBANGBANG!!!!*

2) You can appease them by providing Thargoid tech and, if you're feeling a bit sinister, escape pods or slaves. Seriously, they act like purring kittens if you bring them gifts, and if you bring too many they call friends in to help pick them up. As far as the whole "collecting humans" thing goes, I'm still not entirely convinced they're being harmed anyway. Is someone going to try and argue humans wouldn't do the same if a Thargoid presented itself? It's all about research and learning.

3) You can try to collect black boxes, escape pods, and Thargoid tech from under their noses. They'll leave you alone entirely unless you tick them off, it's quite fun attempting to take this stuff whilst they're turned around. They only seem to get mad if they SEE you take them.

4) If you feel like a bully and REALLY want to get on their bad side, jettison an ancient relic to them and see what happens. They do NOT seem to like the Guardians one bit!

But be honest, what is the most interesting out of the boring lot of suggestions? Shooting them, I know you don't want to hear it but shooting them is the most interesting thing for the average person to do as the other ways at least at the moment do not provide anything meaningful to the player.

2.4 was hyped up like every other expansion and it has been a disappointment.

This highlights my own thoughts of the Thargoids very nicely. Indeed they remind me of a pet cat in everything they do, no sophisticated intelligent alien race, but a house pet, with claws and bites when provoked.

What you say is the truth- a sad truth, but the truth nonetheless. Personally I would MUCH rather the other options for better results in the long term, but the majority of people just can't seem to go without their shooty-shooty pew-pew. It disappoints me that they can't prioritise the possibilities over their own short-term entertainment.

I personally find flowerships a bit cute, making noises, looking at things, collecting stuff. Definitely wouldn't mind having a pet thargoid interceptor if they just were a bit smaller.

If my character RP was in favour of the peace with Thargoids, I would adopt a motif using the symbolism of Doves (Pleiadae) as representation for peace.__I don't see what the issue is with those who advocate such peace complaining they "don't have the in game option" - consider that NOT SHOOTING THEM is actually choosing the peaceful option. There's plenty of scanners and research limpets available for more versatility.Don't expect being able to sit down have tea and chat, cavorting a host of Thargon pets - these are aliens and communication between humans and aliens would destroy every aspect of mystery Braben holds dear with regards to his vision of how the Tahrgoids should be.Those who seek to exterminate and annihilate the aien menace (as my character RP) also have limited choice. __As for boring - let's consider any other (AI)( ship you encounter in space. What variety of options is there available there with regards to interaction?Run away/ Scan them/Pirate /steal from them, shoot them. It's NO SECRET that you are a spaceship equipped with either scanners or weapons. Tahts ALL its possible to do with ANYTHING. So suddenly wondering why there's not much to do wrt Tahrgoids, when you can do everything that you can do any random NPC in space.

So, Space Pigeons then?

I'm no RPer but I would be sad if shooting Thargoids was the only option going forward. It seems to be debatable whether the Thargoid Civil War is canon. I'm kind of hoping it is. IMO, it could make for a good story.

Aw she promised not to tell anyone ;)

Hmm they grab humans So that is worse than certain humans takeing pilots for imperial slaves is it? Btw I bet the current rescue thing must really annoy the slave traders :) Heh Heh

I'm in the snatch the thargoid's stuff away brigade

Its fun to have an enraged thargoid chasing you because you stole his lunch lifepod.

But I'll have to try the guardian relic thing, done it at a thargoid base, and barely got out alive... should be fun

"Whats life without a bit of risk?"

Bill

<<off to try polish roulette.... thats where you use 5 bullets and one empty chamber [woah]

Hey folks,

Was wondering how many Thargoid-huggers/lovers/mothers are out there? I was considering starting a casual player group composed of Thargoid lovers but don't feel like there's too many out there. I've been pretty active (time allowing) in the Aegis community goals and can't say I've found anyone of the same mentality as myself.

Had plenty of civil conversations with pilots running the combat CG and past weapon-research CG's, killed a handful that didn't want to stop and talk or opened fire. The majority of the people I talk to don't roleplay or care enough to have an opinion, and a small minority of people are on the fence and can be talked into dropping their support sometimes. But I haven't found a single other pilot trying to spread the good word!

So tell me, are you out there, my Thargoid brothers?!

They appear to be showing hostile intent, but I don't go out of my way to attack them. they appear to be harmless until you carry 120t of meta-alloys and get hyperdicted by 3 of them....then I run like hell!

In short, I was, but am being more guarded with interactions with the Thargoids. if any pose a threat I will use lethal force but otherwise they are safe. :)

Honestly, The Thargoids & AXI should just do us all a favour and have a roundtable and finish off what's left of the Feds Police State!

I'm afraid THE architypal 'alien lover' was CMDR Relspi .... now long gone and sadly missed from this forum....

The problem with Thargoid sympathisers is there is a venn diagram of issues.

Theres:
the apathetic killers - who just go along with their existing group tolerating the reward based gameplay distantly hoping for a peace choice somewhere along the line.
The Rainbow warriors - Those who spend their time just looking in wonder only attempting to shift public opinion with social pressure and ethical argument
The Activists- Those who have been driven so far underground by unrewarding gameplay and bullying by the AX community they feel the only way to protest is with murder
The Forgotten Elite - this most unusual group are the veteran players of the 3rd elite installment who have seen their continuation of roleplay retconned, battered and unrewarded since backing the game.

There have been many attempts by groups to unite these factions under action but these have been met by failure or controversy. Heres why.

1. The negativity and bullying by the reward focused community. Evidence of this is in this very thread.
2. The lack of consequentiality presented to the sympathiser. There are currently no interactive or currency reward to holding a sympathetic view.
3. The realization that without consequence or reward there can be no proactive action or focused objective and due to this the sympathisers will always be in the minority.
4. Tyranny of Virtue. Minority groups in difficult positions often shout so loudly that they get seen as conspiracy theorists or tyrants.
5. The relationship between Thargoids and the Club, aegis and salvation have only further pushed hopes of peace into the background.

There is a common thread here and one we can do little about. The lack of reward. This is the key issue and it is completely out of our control.

Now if you hold these views we are attempting to start a chat portal out of our own discord. We are using the location and isolation of our PMF and Protection from our Alliance allies (who do not hold our views) as a potential staging ground for sympathisers and we are inviting groups and commanders to join our discord and start standing up to be counted.

We will not recruit you, we will not give you objectives or tell you how to think - that you can do yourselves. All we want to do is create a realistic community - one that can be approached by the developers. We believe our location is enough to let you have your voice.

Search for us and ye shall find

If i see you i'll make sure to say hi. Then proceed to blast you to rebuy for this anti human approach. Extinction is the only option for thargoids. Death to thargoids and their collaborators.

But why?

Anybody with a brain can see the entire affair is literally our fault, and we're actively continuing to cause it.

An obvious action to alleviate conflict with the Thargoids is to distract the pilots involved by weakening the minor factions with which they are affiliated. Those pilots will be forced to spend time shoring up their control spheres, that they would otherwise spend provoking the Thargoids.
