Just for something to do I'd like to become a one-man Insterstellar Rescue, savings lives by recovering as many Occupied Escape Pods as possible. A means of identifying the best places to search would obviously help enormously. This is from the Elite Fandom Wiki:
But which signal sources should I be checking? Is there a higher probability of finding escape pods in particular signal sources? If so, which? Does the system/faction state have any influence?
Also, one would have thought that escape pods would be equipped with an automatic beacon that would stick out like a sore thumb on the Nav panel or even FSS. After all, aircrew and aircraft have had SARBE (Search And Rescue Beacon Equipment) since the 1950s.
The implication is that the existence of Occupied Escape Pods in signal sources is not entirely random.Occupied Escape Pods are legal salvage Commodities that can be handed in to a Search and Rescue Agent for a reward. They can be found in certain System Signal Sources, Unidentified Signal Sources, Points of Interest, and other locations.
