Newcomer / Intro Where to go next

Had the game a while, done a bit of trading, a few things off bulletin boards, then decided to go exploring. I've done Witch Head, Running Man and Orion, and Horsehead Nebulae. Apart from embarking on the pilgrimage to Sag A, what other systems / landmarks do you guys recommend!

Also, finally got round to getting myself a HOTAS, and got Voice Attack set up. Wow, these make a huge difference to gameplay and immersion

Could shoot for the Solar System (Sol in game) to get some sweet pictures of our future home place.

How long does it take to get the permit for Sol?
Is it a bit of a grind? or should I be able to get it quite quickly?

Once I decided to go for the Sol permit, only took a few missions to rank up enough to get it.

As for places to see, how about the far side of the galaxy? See how far from sol you can get before running out of ship/stars.

yeah, want to do some long distance exploration too. need to get a fully kitted out Asp Explorer first though, so guess I'll be going back to a bit of trading for a bit.
