Where to obtain Personal Weapons

I've received a mission for advancement in the Imperial Navy. In order to complete it, I require 3 Personal Weapons (the commodity).

I assume that the best way to obtain them is to search the commodity markets at Anarchy stations. Can anyone confirm if that's correct?

  5. Click on the checkbox next to the specific material you want


If the commodity is available from a system you have trade data on, you will see a line to that system, with a pulsing moving blob moving away from the system with the commodity

Thanks, but the Galaxy Map is of no help with things like this, at least in my experience. In example, according to the Galaxy map, the system SETESUYARA is an exporter of Personal Weapons. The only station that sells commodities there, is Elcano Terminal. However, there aren't any Personal Weapons for sale there, and they're even prohibited.

Would I be best advised to search at Anarchy stations or High Tech stations?

This is exactly what I'm finding too. No logic to it at all unfortunately...

I can confirm that the galaxy map is currently useless for finding personal weapons. I am doing the exact same mission as you and after paying a few hundred credits for a few local systems' trade data I found a place called LEVI-MONTALCINI TERMINAL in LTT 9144 that even had personal weapons listed as one of the 3 listed exports. Went there and found zip. ziltch. nada. nil. nowt...

I have ticketed it citing that as an example

Ran out of time this evening to keep on looking. Need to find an unsanctioned outpost I think :D

I found some (sorry at work, cant remember name of place) over by LHS 3447, about 1 longish (15/16 LY) jump.

The way I found them, I was in a station that imported them and clicked on the arrow in the commodities menu and went through each planet until I found who was exporting them.

Not sure if this is the same data as the trade lines in the galaxy map and I was just lucky, but it worked for me.

It is the same data, as I did the opposite ie I followed the trade route to the import system and it did list personal weapons in the commodities market with a demand, the only import source was where I had just been.

I went to the Fan Platform in the APAM NAPAT system, as it's a High Tech station which doesn't prohibit Person Weapons, and which lists Personal Weapons as the #1 export. They don't even show up at the commodity market there, though. Starting to think I'll fail this mission.

Another botched attempt. Went to EGM 823, which exports Personal Weapons to EGM 762, but Personal Weapons are prohibited at all its stations, and they were in demand at the only commodity market they even showed up at. I keep seeing this; stations exporting commodities that's prohibited and that they have a demand for themselves. :p

The Galaxy map trade routes are broken. They will clearly show several systems exporting Personal Weapons, and when you get there, they have none. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I've taken to making a pen/paper note of where I found every commodity, or at least the rarer ones. A ciggie packet and a pencil >>> in-game the Galaxy Map. Sad but true.

Having the same issue in my home area with combat stabilisers. They probably do produce them, but they're outlawed too and we cannot buy from the Black Market. Also, it seems that if one station has it outlawed then its impossible to buy from any others...

You could go to an anarchy system, check to see if they have any in commodities and if they're out at least it will give you an idea from where they're imported from.

And add me to the list. Same mission, same problem. Glad to hear you ticketed it because it needs to be addressed at some point.
