Where to sell DW exploration data?

Well I got back safe and sound. Made 48 million, which isn't bad concidering I buckyballed it back. On the way out I did scan everything valuable in sight so that probably accounts for most of it!

What has slightly bugged me is the 9 ELWs I discovered between wp 22 and 23 weren't on my list of data to sell, if I look up their systems in the galaxy map I have no system data for them!?!

You stay away from my system, I tell ya!...STAY AWAY FROM MY SYSTEM!!!....

Only kidding.....it's my base & Iv got my Python parked up (gathering space dust) to change into when I return. To date Iv had no trouble using this system as my 'home system', plus it helps to be Allied with every minor faction in it.

That's ok then....I would be a bit disappointed though if I only got 48 mill from my data when I sell.

Using my method of Exploring/Scanning, I'm expecting a minimum of 1 mill credits/1000 LYs traveled.

I can do that. It might be a while before I'm back though, still got another 80,000+LY to go. Longer if I find shiny things to look at :)

I'm going to repair the ship at Pratchett's Disc and then head straight to the first Fed system to get a Sol permit. Then I want to visit the whole Solar system and park the Keelster on one of the station orbiting Mother Earth. :)

I cashed in about 20 mils on my first exploration trip of 28kly (return), so here is hope that I'll be way north of 100mils this time and can buy my Fer-de-Explorance without selling my trusty Keelback - I grew fond of this ship, excellent piece of kit!

When it comes to danger, entering the bubble in Kamzel should be at least as risk free as in solo, right?

No, exploration data only increases reputation. It has absolutely nothing to do with faction (empire/fed) ranks.

Yep, you've only got to worry about NPCs. Although if you're planning on going further into the bubble I'd recommend stopping at one of the outer systems to repair and refit with stronger shields etc, make your ship npc proof :)

Pratchett's Disc is some 500 ly out from the bubble with little or NPC activity and it has repair facilities. In order to get Sol permit, can I sell my data at any Fed system?

You can't get the permit that way - to get the Sol permit you need the rank of Petty Officer with the Federation. As already stated in this thread, you can't get ranks by selling data, this only increases your reputation (neutral -> friendly -> allied) which is a separate stat unrelated to faction rank (though it does help indirectly, as you will have access to more missions with a better reptutation which can in turn help you rank up faster). What you need to do is run some missions for Fed-aligned factions until you can rank up - when you can, you'll see a rank up mission, take it, complete it and you'll advance in rank. Rinse and repeat till you reach Petty Officer. This is rank #4 and shouldn't take too long.

Now I've got it, thanks - I thought that only applies for getting Fed ships...

Fantastic, thanks! I'm sure your data is still needed once you are back! Might just be hard to remember this then ;) easiest would be if you drop me a message a few days of before you return and we can plan a time to meet then. Or maybe add ingame as friends?

Does Pratchett's Disc buy exploration data or do I have to fly to the actual bubble?
(Question unrelated to DW, just getting closer and closer to the Bubble and eager to sell my data at first occasion)

I've the Sol permit and I'm only a cadet. (I also have the Achenar one with no Empire rank.) I'm not sure how I came by them.

It is likely that the sneaky FD sob's have placed an engineer or two in permit locked systems, I would not sell all my data in one system only...

Well, either something glitched out or perhaps you got them at some point when the restrictions were lifted (there was that event to bring slaves to Achenar last summer that had the Empire lift the restriction).

Either way, that's not how it usually works, and you can easily check that on the ED wiki - use your google-fu and find pages for imperial and federation ranks and you'll see which ranks grant which permits. Your example is that exception that doesn't really disprove the rule :)

AFAIK every station buys data, so Pratchett's Disc should be no exception.
