Where's the dosh on these planets?

Charging about in an SRV like a YOB who's just 'borrowed' his neighbour's beamer is fun and all but doesn't do much anything to make my wallet fatter.

So what's down on the the surface that'll give me both fun AND profit?

Ok but seriously though. I think you can scan the data link things and that might make money. But, it also gives you a fatty bounty and I've never seen where I turn that scan into credits. It said I created a data package once but hell if I know what to do with that. I think it's sell-able.

You're not allowed to have fun AND make a profit, didn't you know that? :)
.
Joking aside, I've yet to find anything profitable to do planetside as most of the missions seem to pay peanuts.

Not a very informative answer... I was wondering the same thing.

I get in my buggy and run around the dunes and rocks... and there seems to be nothing to do. I can shoot little blue lasers at... what? Rocks? Is there mining? How does it work? Is there a MANUAL for this stuff I don't know about?

If you find an outcrop you can shoot it to gain some materials for synthesis, I wouldn't call it mining though. You find things by using the radar scanner thingy above the main scanner, travel in the direction of the fuzzy lines until you find something, it should get sharper as you get closer.
