Where's the Family tree?

With all due respect, I would argue that people DID pay to test the beta since one the the selling points for the deluxe edition was, and I quote, "Exclusive Beta Access". The word exclusive means it was the only way, or should have been the only way, to play the beta.
The only reason I did pay the extra cost for the deluxe edition was access to beta and 3 animals but more toward the beta access. It great game, but agree bugs are still there and some game breaking.

I just don't get how the same people are getting the same bug as the beta but I don't have them ?? Maybe you should try to go back to the tutoriel or try a different way of doing it? All my animals have acess to food and breed well. (All my work zone are assigned and are not far from my exhibit). Once you start to understand more how the game system work you can start building around it.

You guys ever tried Assassin's Creed Unity?

Now that was a release where people were entitled to be angry.

Their intention, probably, is to patch this things slowly the following months until all the mechanics are implemented and working. If memory serves me right, PlanCo had the exact same problem at release and that’s how they fixed it.

Bug fixes, little things here and there i'd be fine with. Leaving entire core mechanics out I'm not. Without the ability to see the family tree, breeding - a large part of the game - is basically pointless.

And in response to those saying they were never confirmed, family trees were mentioned in the developer journals. A quote from the August Round Up:
'In Planet Zoo, if you look after your animals well, you can witness entire generations living out their lives, allowing you to trace a lineage back to the first relatives arriving in your zoo. The genetics of these family trees also plays a factor in animal scaling with genes being passed from parent to child.'

That quote doesn't say anything about the game having a window that shows a family tree chart. I'm not defending them here but if that is what people are going on by "They said we would have family trees" then that further cements my original point. That quote simply says genetics and family lineage is important not that they will physically have a UI window that exposes that information.

Yes because if you aren't getting bugs then clearly everyone else is holding it wrong.

I am just saying that ''you'' are not the voice of everyone either myself. I am seeing a lot of fixes from the beta and I appreciate them. We can focus on good thing or chose to focus on only negative thing.

I'm really hoping for family trees, too. However, there is already an improvement because if you click on an animal and then check out breeding partners it WILL tell you that you are inbreeding if you pair X and Y and there won't be the red inbreeding warning if they are unrelated. Seeing that the beta had only the all red fertility and/or immunity possibility as a clue that this might not be a desirable breeding pair, it's already a step forward, but yes, I do hope it doesn't stop there.

Which is fine... If they acknowledged it.

I think that's my problem with big game studios vs indie developers in today's market. Indie developers are very transparent about their game development. Look at Prehistoric Kingdom for example, every month they release an in-depth 'graph' showing every major system in the game and the progress made on them. Or any other game where they show you their timeline of the project and when to expect things.

Obviously I don't /expect/ or require game developers to be that transparent, that's their choice.

But... That's also why I put more faith into indie developers over triple A companies now. In this case, it really would have been easy for Frontier to simply acknowledge "unfortunately we weren't able to get 'x' features out for the full release but we intend to patch them into the game, and here's a very rough estimate of when that might happen".

That shows to players that they know where they had to cut features for release but that they still intend to put them in, and that would save a lot of trouble from having threads like this where people are upset a feature was not implemented but getting no acknowledgement from the developer on whether it's intended to be that way or just wasn't implemented yet.

I trust frontier which is why I'm still here but, y'know, a little more transparency would be welcome.

There's no need for negative remarks like this one on our forums. The development team of Planet Zoo worked very hard to develop the best possible gaming experience for us. Please remember that we're all humans and we all make mistakes, so bugs and issues can happen and while the game is great, there's always room for improvement. Saying that the devs took a 6 week vacation is a huge disrespect towards them.

I understand that some bugs and issues from the Planet Zoo Beta were not fixed yet, but that doesn't justify comments like yours. The development team continues to work on the game to make the experience even better.

My comment was NOT out of line. The DDE included early beta access which included extensive bug testing. During that time, a lot of people were very active on the forums and provided very detailed feedback and examples. Which most of us were happy to do so.
Want to know what is out of line? A gaming company that fails to provide core mechanics on launch that they stated would be on launch. A company that has failed in their mission of communicating effectively. A gaming company that KNOWS the game will have bugs (because EVERY game has bugs, I mean look at Skyrim - 10 years old and it still is buggy) and didnt release a bug fix today.
The devs fail to take into consideration that unlike a coaster park which just has machines to look after, in a zoo sim a keeper taking 3 months to travel from a keeper hut to an enclosure and then saying ":BuT wE cHaNgEd BrEeDiNg" as if that fixed the core issue.
During beta, I experienced a couple crashes, no big deal. However, throughout my playtime yesterday? Several. This morning? I couldnt even load the game, and it sure isn't my spanking bran new computer.
No, my comment wasn't out of line. However, you attempting to dress me down in public was.

I respect that you disagree with how Frontier deals with communication about development of their games, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the game. Still, stating that the devs took a 6 week vacation the past weeks when they didn't is insulting towards the devs in my humble opinion, which is I made my earlier comment in my position as volunteer moderator.

Let's leave it at that and keep this thread on topic of where's the family tree? . Thanks!

I certainly hope so. They said there would be a way to see which animals are related to each another in the full release. Guess they forgot that..

I guess I'll just repeat myself, but you CAN see that. It's just not as easily acessible as would be nice. But if you go on one animal and hit the last tab with the genetic information and then compare mates for that particular animal, you can choose a mate and if they are related it will tell you above the offspring in red that this is inbreeding. You can then set one of them up with contraception so you know that it is a sibling/child/parent of the animal you are just checking.

Again, it's complicated and it's a bit inconvenient, and it's nothing like having an actual family tree, but there is a way to tell, which is what they have promised.
