Which "Certain Type of Hyperspace Failure"?

Looking through the 1.3.1 Patch notes I saw this: -

- Commanders who cannot load back into the game after a certain type of Hyperspace failure should be automatically rescued to the last system they safely docked in.

Reading this it now appears that should you experience one of these "certain types of failure" you could end up back in the Station you set off from?

Or am I not reading it correctly?

Wow - if they've decided to send you all the way back to inhabited space - that's going to open up a huge can of wormholes....

There were people who couldnt start the game after a crash, and they had to be "rescued" manually by Support. This just automates that process, it doesnt apply to just any-old-crash

I certainly hope that isn't the case. The last system I safely STOPPED in...sure. But the last system I safely DOCKED in?

That is an unacceptable penalty for a technical fault on their end that I have no control over.

Maybe they mean Thargoids in witch space? My own witch space has been acting weird lately. Wasn't sure it was a bug or an omen.

I understand it's not any old crash, but this type of crash happening would seriously hurt, especially if you've been out there for some time as I presume your data would be lost?

Your reading it correctly mate thats why i'm holding of exploring till this mess is fixed :(

Good move. I held off exploring and decided to do some Regime change instead. They have just reset all the Minor factions back to pre 1.3. Might as well just boiled my head.

Oh I agree, its a horrid "patch" for a serious issue. AFAIK you keep your data, but that's not a lot of succour if you are out on the far rim.

The whole reason I keep a log is so that I can tell support where I was and where I was going. It worked two days ago when I lost my Commander data. I dont want to end up at the last station, and where does it say that we would have our data? I am getting more paranoid by the day.

Paranoid is a harsh word to use, next you will be thinking we are all talking about you behind your back :)

A wise thing to do, I do the same.

Not sure if these bug releases in 1.3 are as bad as they were for 1.2, but I feel 1.3 has been rushed, which seems to be happening each time a release is put into Beta.

Is this the taste of things to come, especially with the Consoles joining the world of Elite: Dangerous certainly seems like it.

People think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify

Can you help me occupy my brain?
Oh yeah

I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find
I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal

And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but it's too late....

(cropped the cry .. woman.. thingy.. malarky.. at the start....)

It could be the Explorer's anthem :)

The last docked location is the safest location we can automatically return you to, the bug basically caused a loss of your known location. However we can access your last jumps so we'll move the 90 odd affected commanders to their last jump that we can access which should put them close to where they were. This will happen sometime this afternoon, so hold off playing the game until this is done! Otherwise you will be magically teleported.

Michael

Looks like it is a holding action until someone teleports you manually. See, its all Paranoia

"Paranoia is reality seen on a finer scale."
- Philo Gant, Strange Days

"The issue is not whether you are paranoid, the issue is whether you are paranoid enough."
- Max, Strange Days

I really like that movie.

The other night I heard that for the first time in Donkey's Years whilst listening to Orbital FM radio out in The Black. That's a good station for long distance explorers of a certain age - lots of Led Zepplin, early Bowie, Rolling Stones and such like.

Thanks for the heads up :)
