Which is your favorite Alliance ship?

I bought a T-10, flew it for a week or so & sold it again, preferring the Cutter for trade/combat and the Vette for exploration/combat. I don't mine (much) so I just didn't have a use for it.

I bought a Chieftain but barely use it, although like the Krait, I haven't sold it & do want to spend more time in it. I looked at the specs of the other two & have never felt any desire to fly them. My go-to medium pad ship of choice is still the Python, I own several & use two regularly, one dedicated for CZs, one a 200t BGS mission runner.

So Chieftain I guess :)

My favorite is the T-10, followed closely by the Challenger.

The T-10 has high capacity autoloading multicannons with either 5 efficient gimballed beams or two small LR plasma slug rails, dual efficient thermal vent turrets and a high capacity corrosive multi on the other hardpoints. In most other aspects it may be worse than my Conda, but once those multies start hitting hulls, oh boy is it glorious. Even more so than a full multi FGS.

The Challenger is currently tied with the Krait as my favorite medium pad combat ship, (both possibly slipping to second thanks to the FGS I'm testing) and is equipped with triple medium PAs and quad beams on the other hardpoints. Thanks to GSRPs it's got a 900mj biweave, with +56%resists and a 6A SCB, while still having over 2K hull when a fuel scoop is fitted.

I used to fly a Chieftain, but IMO the Challenger outclasses it in every department except top speeds and has been designated to module storage.

I bought a Crusader when it was released, flew it for a few minutes then docked and sold it. The Chieftain and Challenger are both better ships, with the Krait and FGS cementing it's mediocrity due to both being able to launch two fighters without sacrificing shield strength while also having better firepower, jumprange, multirole capabilities and looks.

Keelback!

But I'm currently trying out the Challenger to see if can replace my FDS... I like the chief but it's a bit limited in flexibility for me. Crusader is great being similar to the KB only bigger and tougher etc but I think the KB is more flexible in general....

I love my Keelback! Wonderful ship. Mine is a a silent running torpedo boat. I don’t bring it out all the time, but it’s stupendously stealthy in plain sight.

Are we talking about all of the Lakon family, or only about the recently released AX-focused T10, Chieftain, Crusader and Challenger ships, the later being the only ships produced in cooperation with the Alliance?

I currently like flying the Chieftain. I haven't tried the other two C's. I probably won't mainly because of their low speed and their hefty costs.

I also liked the feeling of sitting in the cab of the enormous T10. The only thing why I have sold it again was, because I can not afford to maintain both, the Anaconda and the T10 with A-graded internals. I still treasure the T9 over most other ships, if I don't want to go to combat.

So Chieftain and T9 are my favorite Lakon ships. DBE and T6 are close behind.

I love my T-10 for exploration. The wellness deck, king sized Captain's quarters, cinema, arboretum and the gym are the envy of every unwashed DBX jock I happen to meet out there!

The Chieftain currently, but the Challenger is better on paper. But then Morbad said it was horrible to fly and has module vulnerability, so now I'm wondering. lol. hm...

I'd like to here opinions of others on which Alliance ship is their favorite and for what reasons.
That is a tricky one, but if I were forced to choose it would probably have to be the Challenger because of it's inherent versatility when compared with the other two.

If I were running a military escort role and were selecting an Alliance ship for the activity then I would pick the Crusader.

If I were running a military assault type role and were selecting an Alliance ship for the activity then I would pick the Chieftain.

However, the Challenger trumps the other two in terms of versatility IMO.

It's good to see people singing the praises of the Type-10. I hadn't expected to see that.

Also Madrax's comparison of the Keelback was very interesting. The other day I saw Yamiks put the Keelback in his list of the 5 worst ships, and I was thinking out wrong that was to me!

Another T-10 vote. Nice strong hull, manoeuvrable - great gun platform for taking out scouts with ease.

Chieftain is also nice, but mine hasn't seen as much action as the T-10.

Unfortunately, despite being very pro Alliance, I don't like any of the four Alliance ships. I'm not a fan of any of the copy/paste British thank ships. The cockpits are very dull and I despise spoilers on spaceships. As for the T10, I despise everything about it's design. It is flat out the ugliest ship in the game, and did I mention spoilers?

So for aesthetic reasons, none of them. Which is a shame, as with the Krait, they have shown they can do great ship design. I guess they gave the Alliance ships to the work experience kid who likes cars and not space.

So I am going for the Krait Typhoon. The Alliance ship, complete with Alliance logo, which got turned into the non-aligned Krait MkII at some point in its production.

Challenger. Used to use mine for mats gathering and combat, but since I got my FDL, I use it for mats gathering and mission running.

If fits this role very well, but can still pack a wallop.

If we are including the T10D in the "Alliance Ships" pantheon then that adds another dimension to the topic I had not seriously considered.

The T10D has some inherent complications that make it undesirable to use but it is potentially one of the most heavily protected ships in ED so has that going for it. If operating as part of a wing or with multi-crew then the T10D really does have some significant advantages.

The Challenger would still pip it to the post though in my books.

T10 is a great aggressive Assault Miner.
As a mining platform it has great visibility, ample room for all your mining tools, and it can slaughter the occasional pirate with ease.
