Hardware & Technical Which Joystick After X52 Pro??

Here is my dilemma.

I have a fully working X52 Pro sat on my desk unable to be used because Saitek cant make drivers which don't screw my system up completely. I have tried everything i can find to get them to work but to no avail.. So... the question is.. which joystick would be the next best to use n elite? I say next best because imo the X52 Pro was perfect for the job, every button was well placed, i have it down to a T.. (in english that means i had it setup perfect!)

Price isn't really a concern, as long as the Joystick is good!

I like the look of the warthog, but dont know if i could get used to no Yaw.. Which leads me to the X55/X56 but i dont know if it will work with it being saitek again.. drivers are deffo not their strong point..

Any opinions?

Cheers.

Yea, seems odd u cannot get x52Pro to work. Assume u are on Win 10?

All in all, the x52Pro is an excellent stick choice and the SW is pretty good. Not perfect, but it works most all the time. Mine is quite old now and ragged and I am thinking too about new stick, but still holding strong and I also have a great x52Pro ED profile from this guy which is nice!

Everyone i can find.. and i have gone through deleting them in the registery, restarted etc before each version. Done everything the internet tells me i have to do. Even tried usb 2.0 too.

All that happens is it starts, says plug in joystick which i do, then it just hangs for ages on the next part and wont go past.

My friend has it working perfect on his, same o/s on the _42 drivers..

I have to boot to safe mode, restart it, boot to safe mode again and then on the 3rd restart it will start as normal.

Its a freshish install of win7 64bit.

I was lucky enough to get a Warthog bought for me a month ago for my Birthday - after owning an x52 pro for three years! I'd researched the options quite a bit and was, like yourself put off by the lack of yaw function on the Warthog. I'd also had the jitters about learning a whole new set of mappings if I changed models. But...I did, the x52 pro (imo) was made for Elite Dangerous...a beautiful hotas and every button just where you want it! But...now I've changed I've travelled from Sol - Colonia - Sag A - Great Annihilator and now I'm half way back to Colonia...all with the Warthog (I gave my youngest son the x52 pro). And now after a month the mappings are becoming second nature again....and I'm 54! (Old dog new tricks?) but my point is....go for the Warthog and get the TFRP pedals...use the toe brakes as the yaw function ( I find it easier) and you won't look back! IF I didn't have the Warthog now....I would have just bought a brand new X52 pro- without question! And I researched all the top sticks and hotas set ups before I finally got the Thrustmaster....honestly - you will not regret it

I moved to the Saitek x56, from the x52, and the major improvement is the lack of dead zone and accuracy. I chose it over the Warthog because I like to use the twist/yaw function of a stick, and the Warthog doesn't have that function. I also like lots of buttons. :)

I cant believe it but i actually got it to work..

I found the 6.2.2.4 drivers which i had not tried and thought i may as well try these..

Blooming thing worked! Not straight away mind you.. it actually installed the drivers but shutting down and restarting the pc still hung..

I thought to myself, another dead driver and i just went into the device manager and tried to manually change them like many times before but this time. It just accepted..

Booted up teamspeak.. no longer crashing out..

Booted up the rift.. no longer hanging..

Booted up elite and bingo! Even had all my controls saved.. the only thing that doesnt work is the mouse wheel on the throttle as i used that for cycling sub targets... well.. i aint even going to try fix that.. i can live without it for now!

Them drivers are getting saved!

I've used the X-52 for years. I was really wanting the X-56 with the new features it came with, but was seriously put off by the quality reviews. Just too many ppl having issues.

I went with the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS, the kit that came with the flight stick and their new throttle to match it....and I absolutely love this system. It has a better layout in my opinion and to top it off and I'm now able to have an analog hat for vertical and horizontal thrust. I highly recommend this setup.

Well.... i went to play elite tonight.

Joystick drivers screwed once more.. :(

Re-installed everything from scratch and this time nada. Nothing..

Had enough, i have better things to do with my time than mess about with drivers..

Who wants a x52 pro.. great condition..

Please - download the latest drivers for both your X52 and chipset, use a USB2 port, and I am willing to bet cash it'll work unless there is something physically/electrically wrong with the HOTAS or your motherboard.

I have to say I was worried about the x56 too after going through a few dodgy x55's, but it hasn't let me down yet and it's seen some action these past months! :)

I have the latest drivers for the x52..

I will eradicate everything off my system for saitek, im just downloading some new drivers for my board and i will do as you say and retry..

I will report back with my findings :)
