Which power for explorers?

I wouldn't trust Aisling Duval at all. In my view shes a Siren who'll lure you in with her charm and fabulous looks but nothing good will come of it.

Explorers should steer well clear of her.

I dont see any power helping out explorers. The 200% is unachievable as far as I am concerned, so I will go with one of the fruitcakes for fun, probably Patreus.

Heh, I have a thing for blue hair if no one noticed by now. I'll likely not commit to any power until I've retired from exploring, which is likely never.

Is anybody else using a process of elimination just to find the least objectionable power to pledge to with the one's we're presented with?

Out of the 10 powers I first eliminated the Imperial ones. I want nothing to do with the Empire except maybe to get on a their "shoot on sight" list which would give me an excuse to blow them out of the sky.

Sorry Orange Sheets, but if it ever comes to that then, "if your red, your dead" inside the bubble.

Nah, just kidding :D

Six left.

We have three independents. I'm certainly not pledging for the Pirate King, If I get involved with this thing I'll do what I can to remove this stain from the map.

I'm not really too comfortable pledging to a mega corporation that puts profits above all else and makes today's multinational corporations look like Mom & Pop stores, and while I like high tech, I'm not getting involved with a wacko utopian cult.

Three left.

The jury is still out for me on the Alliance. I have a feeling that a lot of the people who chose to side with the Alliance did so because the Empire and Federation superpowers were unappealing, and they were simply left with the Alliance as the only other alternative.

The Alliance is really a nothing superpower in the game. They have no ships of their own or ranks, neither of those two things are that bad, but just add to the general sense of a lack of purpose and direction, especially when combined with the jumbled up mess of government types thrown willy nilly all over the place.

There's potential for the Alliance, but it just isn't that appealing to me right now in it's present state.

Two left.

I reluctantly chose my home system in Federation space as the other Superpowers were less appealing to me. Luckily it's "uncontrolled" at the moment, but it's only a few systems away from the President's little bubble of joy.

The thought of my system getting under the control of a protectionist, exclusionary, security obsessed right wing power has left me with the only option of siding with shadow president Winters if...and only if, my system is in danger of being taken over by the President's forces.

So that was my process of weeding out the bad from the worse :)

It's not an exploration related decision, but really...the only power that has anything to do with exploration is the Sirius Corporation it's just not my cup of tea...I have principles :D

Explorers are so adorable.

I love how you are reading the storylines to see which power to align with.

The average player isn't reading or analyzing anything. They just look at the artwork. Let's face it princess has too many fanboys because she has a cute avatar. They will dominate the map in short order. They will need to nerf her rewards and enhance other powers rewards to keep up.

I plan to stay independent if I can.
