Which ship is Elite's answer to the Millennium Falcon?

Cobra Mk 3 for me as well, AspX is close second. Just it's too big and ponderous to feel right.

If we're strictly judging on "bucket of bolts" or "piece of junk" looks, well any fed ship will apply *giggle at unprovoked fed shaming.*

Back to the Cobra. As far as im concerned, medium burst lasers and small missile rack even fits the loadout. At least until we get laser cannons...please? Some modified thrusters/performance enhanced thrusters, good FSD, and lots of utilities.

I would say a Keelback has a similar role, despite looking quite different, and probably being slower. Insert mandatory quip about the MF being able to do the kessel run in less than 12 Parsecs (desipte a Parsec being a unit of measurement)

I seem to remember the word Freighter being used more than fighter, so I have to go with the T-7.

I think the furthest you could stretch that line of reasoning would be the type-6 though because the MF was way smaller then people seem to think.

Edit: Good thought though.

Lakon 6 with engineer mods.

No one looks at a cobra III and says "Its a piece of junk!"

This was my line of reasoning for a T6 as well. A lot of personal mods that Han made himself.

To be fair guys, my Cobra Mk III does look like a pile of junk. I've got a cheap body kit & a squadron skin. :)

That's a thought! I haven't tried it modded up yet. I wonder how fast it can go modded up properly.

Yes - Cobra III is the obvious choice, but now with mods you can't overlook a souped up iCourier. Mine can cruise at over 500m/s and boost to 686 with nice jump range.

Only the smaller cargo capacity would argue against it.

Other than the large size, a fully modded Clipper also fits the bill, but not being able to land at outposts is a big negative. But the speed is awesome.

Sadly, Engineers seems to have dethroned Cobra as the fastest ship in the Galaxy...

I would have to say the AspX - A rated its pretty nippy and can cover a lot of space in a short time, and wouldn't the x-wing be more like the Eagle than a Condor?

I don't think we've ever had this discussion in the Xbox boards. And all the discussions I have seen on this question over in DD pre-date 1.5. So some more recent vessels haven't been considered.

What is your opinion on the question in the title?

I myself consider the Cobra Mk III to be "Elite's Millennium Falcon".

Why? Well, for one, the two ships are very similar in size. They also share a similar cockpit, with two pilot stations.

The Millennium Falcon was a light trading ship before it was modified... The Cobra Mk III is a similar story. It excels at light trading, and responds well to the Engineers.

Potential armament on the two ships is similar. Neither are thoroughbred fighters... But they are survivable.

Both are regarded as excellent smuggling ships.

Both have room to fit a land vehicle inside, if memory serves. (I believe that the Millennium Falcon had one cargo hold that had a door lower from the belly, and could accommodate a landspeeder)

Both ships are incredibly fast.

That's all I've got for now.

Which ship do you think is Elite's Millennium Falcon? I look forward to the discussion.

Somebody on the Internet made a ship size/shape comparison (an overlay diagram) between a Cobra Mk III and the Millennium Falcon. Apparently a Cobra Mk III is almost the same size and shape as the MF.

Look on page 2 of this thread. I tried to post it, but can't tell if the reddit link worked on my work computer.

Did this work?

Well, the Cobra is wider and the Falcon is longer, but overall they are comparable.

Something to keep in mind when people talk about how fast it is, it's not faster than a fighter. We routinely see things like TIE fighters overshooting it. It's faster in hyperspace, which would be analogous to our jump range. That would in some ways make it more comparable to an AspX (especially after engineer mods), or perhaps even a Keelback. Despite its pitiful turn rate, or perhaps even because of it. We never really see the Falcon dog fight, after all. It relies on top and bottom mounted turrets primarily.

Cobra, however, is still the best overall comparison for a couple of reasons - it is considered one of the most ubiquitous ships in the galaxy, and the YT-1300 and its various Corellian kin hold a similar distinction among stock light freighters.

Personally I think the ASP Explorer is a lot more of a Millennium Falcon than the Cobra MK. lll, not that I don't respect the ship.
It just doesn't fit the visual aesthetics that a Millennium Falcon like ship would go for. It's more of a X Wing than a Falcon.
