Engineers Which ship to upgrade for the long run? Python or Anaconda?

Thank you for the replies, and the build, dagnosh; will bookmark it for future reference. And Cmdr Quantis Trap, I like how you praise the Cutter so much, and then mention its only in the top 5 :) .

Whenever someone posts a Coriolis build, don't just save bookmark, press the save button on the build page, then you will always have it.

I finally started thinking about upgrading one of my ships with the help of the engineers, but can't decide which one, for multipurpose, Python or Anaconda. (I am thinking about Cutter too eventually, for trading, but don't have the required Imperial Rank yet). What do you suggest?

I use both. My Python is more a multipurpose mission runner capable of going anywhere and able to either defeat, or survive to run from, interdictions.

My Anaconda has a better jump range, SLF fighters, and similar cargo capacity to my Python. She's capable of fighting anything (Haz Res, Combat Zones) and doing missions. I alternate between using her and my Corvette. Currently the Corvette is what I'm using.

no, the FDL as a mission runner is a luxury, that's all. basically you fit a class 5 cargo rack into the class 5 slot, and run with a class 4 shield. but here is my (massively engineered) build: https://eddp.co/u/TdZjbhik ... a glorified cobra mkIII with good shields, enough utilities and a huge MC... you could get a similar mission running vulture up ... but, as said, rich mans toys.

as for exploration: the AspE is the best allround explorer hands down (with the condas supercruise handling and its sheer size making its hard to land at some spot, and the DBEs drawback of restricted optional internals and a bad fuelscoop-size - fsd-size relaion), but the best exploration ship is the one you enjoy flying for exploration over a long time - as you spend a lot of time in that ship. i went exploring in an Adder, DBS, cobra mkIII + mkIV, python, courier, eagle, clipper, dolphin, orca - and AspE, DBE, Conda. currently mainly flying the DBE. but any ship will do, 5 internals for roundtrips up to 30K ly is totally fine, with more distance it gets a challenge without an AFMU (but people have been at beagle points in sideys and FDLs...), 6 optional internals is all you really need, and more allow for interesting choices...

That FDL of yours looks a lot like a pirate to me.

Pros and cons for both here, although each has been said. I will pop my 2p worth in as well though.

Annie can be a winner for combat, then again so can the Python with a mental RNG build.

Python can go anywhere so you can trade in more places, plus there's that added choice of having certain trade goods cheaper in certain outposts, black markets are easier at Outpost as well. Python is better/nicer to fly (my opinion)

Annie can carry more trade, its a better miner and it has the best jump range, saying that I haven't seen a Pythons max Engineered jump range so call me out if I am wrong

For trading though, save for a Cutter, you will not be disappointed 1 tiny bit.

Is that the actual build of your FdL? All the stats etc. is exactly how your ship flies, jumps etc. because that has 1 hell of a jump range if its all above board.

no, that is just the button "best roll" on coriolis ... i don't put the real numbers in it (too uch work) - my mission running FDL jumps 0,3 ly further ingame (slightly better FSD engineering roll above max.).

if you keep a FDL ligthweight, it gets an okayish/acceptable jumprange.

if you look thorugh the build, you can see that i have saved weight wherever possible .... d-class shieldboosters for exampel. undersized powerplant. undersized powerdistributor. lightweight weapons. etc. pp. good thing about ligthweight weapons is they can run from a smaller distributor...

i would love to get a FDL up to 30 ly jumprange in a mission runner build - not possible.

I'd love to have shuttle bays. Like fighter bays (but you can equip both) but shuttles can dock at outposts, carry a bit of cargo (2 tons, like the SRV) and let you deal with the mission board etc.

I'm with you! Utility ship would be so cool. Something to do for your NPC / player crew as well.
