I've been playing this game for almost 2 years now. I've done some smuggling, trading, a bit of combat, some exploration, a ton of mining (I'm weird, I know).. and I'm still finding ways to love this game!

I can't believe all of the negativity I am reading on this forum though. Complaining about what's wrong with the game, or whining about what we don't have. Reading all those comments of "It would be simple to add X and Y"...

First, what's wrong with the game, they are fixing, or at least trying to. Remember that these guys are a "small" company. They aren't EA or Activision where they have thousands of staff slaving away to bring you your AAA+++ super polished over 9000 games. They are making a serious awesome game without that kind of backing.

Second, about whining for what we don't have. If I remember correctly, the devs of Frontier have a 10 year/season plan for this game. We can't get it all at once!

Third, for the ones saying that it's simple to code X and Y... you try coding an entire universe and then say that it is easy.

Honestly guys, I grew up in the day and age of the original Wing Commander, the X-Wing and Tie Fighter series, and compared to what we had back then, this is a dream!!!

I beg to differ, while the graphics are better the gameplay is not a fair comparison really as all the games you mentioned were ground breaking titles which engaged the player whereas ED is just a sandbox with nothing much to do apart from the rinse-repeat stuff. FD has backed itself into a corner with this title and has not and cannot deliver what the original players were told they would get.

So when I go away for four months at a time, (or three, when I used to be back on boats with him) without internet access, I (or anyone in that position) shouldn't get a bit miffed that something they've paid for that was advertised or marketed as not requiring internet access, actually does, rendering it unplayable?

The funny thing here is, all of the games above had in spades my biggest missing content of elite. NPC wingmen. A new X wing Vs tie fighter game. I would back the hell out of that so long as not just multiplayer arena shooter like the abomination that was star wars battlefront. As for wing commander. That is why I backed star citizen. For S42
