Whiskey, Gin, Brandy - but where is Rum?

It has associations with the slave trade. Whiskey, Gin and Brandy, on the other hand, appear to have romantic connotations with the Highlands of Scotland (and men in kilts) ..... women sipping cocktails ..... and men holding large seductive glasses warmly ..... in that order :p
Rum also has associations with the Royal Navy. As for cocktails, it seems we are denied the pleasure of daiquiris and mojitos. Also why would associations with the slave trade be a problem in a game where you can trade slaves?

Just like whiskey you need to drink good rum. Not just the cheapest stuff they sell.

i once went to a bar which had over 100 hundred different rums to digest ... they had some offer to get really small samples, like 5 times a quarter shot. a whole unknown universe was opening to me ...

which is of course the deeper reason of why we need a rare rum ingame!

There are really good rums. They are different than good whiskeys - obviously - but they can be equally rich in flavor. Sadly most people only know the cheap industrial rum that is ofte

It doesn't have to be whiskey vs. rum. Be open for new things. You don't have to restrict yourself to just one beverage.
Mister!
You are WAY TO SENSIBLE, for your own good! [yesnod]

As a lover of fine vodka myself, I'd like to see a CG where you have to transport Grain - reward some rare vodka...

The 16 years I lived in MN I kept my vodka in the freezer all summer, then stored it outside in teh snow bank all winter. Good vodka, so cold it burns.. there's only two ways to drink it. Either so fast it doesn't touch the sides or slowly and carefully

No thats Gin

Heretic! There's as much variation in gin (if you go to its native land, the netherlands) as there is in fine single malt scotch. Whiskey makes you frisky, gin makes you sin.. but you're just as achy and sticky the following morning either way!
