White Dwarf Systems and Heat Bug?

So I have noticed that every time I FSJ into a system with a White Dwarf sun I am yanked into normal space almost immediately before I can pull away or even close distance for fuel scooping. My ship's heat climbs to 88+ and the heat never goes from there even after travelling for a while away from the sun.

With my heat stuck at 88+ I cannot FSJ as the heat climbs into damage levels. Last time my heat levels climbed to 400 and my ship took 50% hull damage from the heat and I had to self destruct to get rid of the bug. This time I am trying to experiment with getting of the bug before FSJ or gaining anymore heat than 88.

Systems I have noted that do this:

Piscium Sector ZF-N A7-4

Get the star behind you and point your nose where you estimate the escape vector to appear. Switch off everything you don't need. Hit FSD. Pray.

It's really awesome to have some heatsinks at those moments, but I wouldn't call it a bug. You're simply really close to something really big.

Protip: don't fuel scoop from white dwarves it won't work... ever.

Why? white dwarves are the remnants of a star's core after the main sequence stage has elapsed. It's basically a super hot massively dense (most of the star's original mass is in there) object that will not throw out hydrogen/helium molecules for you to scoop out. It's also insanely hot because of its mass and the fact that the core of a star is by far the hottest part reaching 10K to Millions of degrees depending on the star and it will forever remain in space until cooled off completely millions of years down the road.

Go for a real star in the main sequence stage if you want to scoop and your ship will love you for it.

can't scoop white dwarfs, or T tauri stars at that (they look like normal yellow main sequence stars).
stick to G white-yellow and K yellow-orange class main sequence stars

Its not big, its small but extreamly dence and hot. It's a dieing star thats about to burn out. Its like a spark from a fire, they glow hottest right before they wink out.

This game is so awesome... It's natural. The star's gravitational pull is too much. First time I didn't understand what the hell was going on, had to SC to an escape vector and run away from it.

Zero your throttle whilst still in hyperspace, that way you come out still in supercruise but going very slowly, giving you plenty of time to turn away from the star.

Well I had actually hadn't tried to fuel scoop, they yank me out of FSJ as I enter the system..so far I have not been able to avoid it. But knowing this is intentional and another time waster on long 160+ LY journey's does not really impress me with "immersion" then..just another time sink while I try to escape the gravity and heat. Hooray for another Elite Time Sink game function.

Not a bug, those stars (among T Tauris, for example) aren't scoopable - the scoopable gas envelope is too deep in the gravity well - you'll fry long before you reach the potentially scoopable region.

LOL yeah thats what the creator of the universe said when it was created... I think I'll put this here to scew up BellatorMonk. :D

no. it's because you exit hyperspace with your throttle still at max so fly straight at sun in supercruise. best practise is to zero throttle after you jump into hyperspace between systems so when you exit you don't start to accelerate.

Wow, perhaps should try and listen to what everyone is telling you. Zero your throttle either prior to or 'immediately' after dropping out of warp... It's not hard, using that method you will never have heat or SC dropout issues.

I do multiple long range trade hauls, have never had an issue with white dwarf stars. Just use your brain, and follow helpful advice. Seems you are so involved with getting p'ed off, you can't see the errors in your method.

This explains a lot !

Jumped to a small blue star (can't remember the name) and felt I was getting sucked towards it quickly until I auto-exited supercruise. Heat went up to 250% nearly fried !!

Escaping a white dwarf.

If you get caught by a white star, don't panic. It is escapable.

When you engage the drive, you'll find you overheat in seconds, which does damage. You can slightly delay this by shutting off non-essential systems (like shields) via the control tab as mentioned in this thread but the only way to actually escape the situation is to quickly find the 'escape vector' and point your ship at it. For me, this was off-screen at approximately 90% to my right. You can only see this when the frame warp drive is engaged and you don't have long to find it.

So cut power, cool down, engage frame drive and find the escape vector immediately - point at it and pray.

OBAFGKM stars only when fuel scooping, NOTHING ELSE WORKS - Tauri look like blue or yellow normal stars but they are NOT fuel scoopable, Same goes with Brown dwarfs, Black holes, Neutron stars, white dwarfs and L class stars.

Even Wolf-rayet class stars (class W) are NOT fuel scoopable.

A short easy to understand rule of thumb.

"OH. BE. A. FINE. GIRL. KISS. ME.

Hint for finding the escape vector - set the star as your destination from the navigation tab if the left ui panel, and then turn so that the empty blue dot is in the center of your target guidance display ( the round thing above and left of your radar ). An empty dot means it is behind you, and centered means it is directly behind you. The escape vector will always apppear directly in front of you using this method.
