"White knights" - come out come out wherever you are!

Could be lots of arguments had about what constitutes a white knight. I've been labeled one often enough.

The best thread where that happened was where i was actually criticizing FD for something and I was called a white knight! :O I think they just saw my username and assumed i was defending FD just threw the accusation out there without reading my post.

My main annoyance though is threads that basically go: If you disagree with what i say you must be a white knight and your opinion is worthless.

We had a thread like that on the forums here just a few days ago. Amazing that people don't see the problem with that stance.

I am a white knight!

I love this game. I really do. It is the only game I play since premium beta.

However, I do agree that it has it's flaws. I really dislike some aspects of it (like delayed ship transfer, the engineers ruining PVP for casual players, no proper military career with military missions like in Frontier, stupid assassination mission implementation etc.)

But at the end of the day it is the best space game currently on the market (for me at least) and I got way more than my money worth out of it already (even if I am a lifetime expansion pass owner).

So yes, I am a white knight!

FDev for the win!

Again... Wut? Did you miss the point? You can merge concepts like Engineers and Powerplay together, making faction-specific Engineers, rebranding Powerplay to more of a faction vs faction active combat and trade foundation from it's currently nearly exclusive PvE rewards grind for trading. Depth can be added by furthering the story and increasing what a player's influence can bring, increasing rewards by adding component and ship discounts, and while ending the much hated "Lawless" tag that made it not worth it to do by many in the first place. Both Powerplay AND Engineers could benefit from this, and it would take far less to do that coming up with an implementing a brand new gameplay concept.

And also? they are not god, so they can't make a perfect job but compared to a lot of other games, they did and keep doing a really good job... You can trust on a hc oldtimer gamer, with some (offical) beta tester experience about this.

They just don't deserve Ill mannered whining, and hostile remarks instead of correct criticism.

Woohoo! Here I am! Over here! (But only sometimes. Sometimes I comply..... I mean constructively critic..... just like most others). I'm not aware of anyone on the forum who ALWAYS bestows praise and jumps to FD's defense on every issue.

Most people here, even the zealots like myself are happy and indeed want to talk about the games obvious flaws - just in an intelligent way please.

Accusations of private threats etc. is a serious business and I would like to know if you really exist. If not the people doing the accusing need dealing with.

So if you are a bona fine white knight, inacable of rational discussion I challenge you to out yourself here for the world to see! I suspect though that they are a figment of overactive imaginations and are being confused with people sick and tired of opinion and rhetoric being restated over and over as fact in an unconstructive fashion.

If you really are being harassed around here you need to report it because (at least as far as the internet goes) this is a relatively civilised forum and all opinions are welcomed if they contribute to game discussion.

People who start a thread by calling their potential opponents 'White knights' in advance have already lost the discussion, and they know it.
I have never seen a thread starting that way by an OP that used good arguments.
They are always whine threads, always entitled, with little understanding of the difficulties of game design in general and never a clue about the nature of the ED project specifically.

Calling someone a "white knight" is an attempt to win an argument using an ad hominem attack. (Such tactics are usually resorted to when they only have poor or non-existent arguments, and so I would treat anyone using it as instantly loosing the discussion.)
