I saw this funny bug all the time. A faction hiring you to attack/destroy/hack or anything... the SAME faction!! Another ridiculous break of ED immersion, made by Odyssey Beta and distracted Frontier devs.

Within a faction there can be more than one corporation, no?

I guess mission like that would be good to pick up stuff, clean that settlement and even if you will loose rep. you can then pick rep. as reward.

If you get an elimination mission from the mission giver for the mission giver then I'd be cautious

It’s been like this in the bgs forever. You would think a faction would support itself in neighbouring system, but no, more often that not it will offer missions that increase the inf of a rival faction instead of itself. Its just poor game design unfortunately..

Well, I did read it. The idea is to attach a RIVAL corporation, that also falls under the same faction.
It's illegal, covert and hacking. It makes perfect sense to me, but never mind.

Now if XYZ Pirates want you to destroy XYZ Pirates, that would be odd. But this, hardly.
Its like ABC Robotics wanting to steal something from XYZ Engineering, sure they both voted for the Unicorn Party and have head offices in London UK, but they are competing fictional corporations.
