Who else is gaming on sub-par hardware?

GPU is the thing needed most . I went from a gtx580 to a gtx 970 on my 7 year old rig with 4 gig and a 2.8mh quad core thing and gained huge fps and much higher res . Im getting 60-70 most areas 100+ in sc, 60 in station and 35-40 in res sites on max settings @2700 by whatever it is with super sampling.

so that gives me a
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3.00GHz Yorkfield
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3
AMD Radeon R7 200 Series
soudblaster audigy Se
Win7 x64 ultimate

And all thats on a generic dell mobo-Dell Inc. 03NVJ6
Then to top it all off my Psu only gives out 220W

No issues playing ED at all.

well i use a laptop, many would call that subpar. But its an ASUS ROG, so really its quite nice

My chair is pretty sub par, but I couple of towels stacked on it makes it comfortable enough to use for protracted periods.

I'd suggest that it comes down to running ED on Vista and DX10. I'm surprised it runs, it certainly didn't run on my XP machine so I upgraded my OS to Windows 8.1. Your hardware on that second machine exceeds the power of my rig (before I added a GTX960) so if it's struggling then the key thing is that neither your OS or GPU support DX11.

Vista has DX11 if the platform update that came out in 2009 has been applied and should run ED just fine.
