With the exception of Robigo smuggling during the shadow deliveries period I've always just played the game and even with Robigo the credits weren't my focus, it was that the gameplay was fun. I only mention it at all because there's no doubt that it was a very good moneymaker back in the day but I already had a decent amount of cash by then and I've never struggled to make it by just playing the game. I'd have been bored off my face if I'd spent days on end grinding out whatever the exploit of the week was.

Oh and 56k modems aren't old skool. Playing on a 48k Spectrum is old skool. ;)

Anyway @OP - been playing since Alpha, still not Elite in anything, about 300m, still no 'Conda - it's the journey which counts, not the destination ;)

Slopey, I go back to 300/1200. :) Luxury, using LYNX. I could walk to the convenience store, and get USA Today faster than the page would load.

Maybe look up where to get a ship or something and read guides, but otherwise play the old fashioned way. Don't have anything against "get rich quick" game play, but finding my own way feels to me a bit more being in the ED world, an adventure, not just trying to complete a game.

One account here since beta days long time ago and before that 1984 Elite ex player wow has it been that long...

I started beta with my sidey got my eagle in an expansion of sorts never really flew it thought, bought an asp ex didn't like it all and sold it, for a cobra, later a python however the early python days were expensive so sold that bought the asp again and used it for long distance taxiing around the verse, I still have it to this day along with several other ships, Elite has come along way and still requires lots more QOL and content, nower days I spend my time with a mix of passenger missions, some smuggling sallvaging, and some combat RES places as as exploring for weeks at a time, so for me having a mix of duties helps.

Yes i play nice and slow, still one rank off elite in exploration, trade and combat. Playing since beta and have 28-30 weeks of playtime! Don't make much money most days but still have lots of fun :)
About to start a new account and send it to colonia with just the basics, really looking forward to it!
