Who thinks ED is on its last legs?

...LOts of players decry SC but at least they are BUILDING the game, not selling players a shell on blind faith. Thoughts?

Oh man, thanks for the best laugh I've had on this forum for a while! Seriously.

Ooh, and do you know a CMDR Pot? Just wondered if there's a Commando Kettle somewhere in the 'verse. And remind me, how many planets and moons coming in 3.0? That's the 3.0 that was promised for December 2016....

Yup, have fun. Byeeeeee!

I think if you wanna troll you shouldn't make it so obvious. Like... lol. They got more then 100mil out of players without delivering a game yet, thats as much as selling a shell on blind faith as possible.

Of course FD did that too with kickstarter, but at least theres a actualy game here now.

Define "game"? Yes FD have delivered the bare minimum, often re-using in-game mechanics to bolster weak design and implimentaion....... I am NOT a backer of SC but AM leaning that way, I have seen how FD do things and I think its time to take a look at other options. Also, my OP stated a question, not a fact, to encourage a debate. Some people need to READ before posting :)

I took a break from ED and came back after 2.4 hit. It's a better game now than before. There are bugs, but I have confidence that FD are looking into the worst of them.

I would buy 2 or 3 LEPs at this time if they were reasonably priced and (more importantly) available.

So no, ED isn't on its last legs. It hasn't really even hit its stride yet.

OP would have been better off not mentioning the developer that sells images of ships to people for hundreds of dollars.

However you may feel about it, Elite is very much a game that's playable and it didn't cost you anything but what it's listed for plus an expansion.

I wont beat about the bush, havent really played for a while as the game just has nothing for me, the shallow and lack lustre gameplay and re-used game mechanics killed it for me. I happened upon one of the Star Citizen weekly vids last night and OMG, whatever anyone says about it, those guys are doing it !!!! I last looked at SC about 2 years ago and left it alone but the progress they have made is amazing, and the approach (when put next to FD.s closed mouth approach) is like a breath of fresh air. The next updates for ED are going to be QoL, but ONLY free to horizons players? So your game will still be bugged unless you purchase horizons? Really? I just dont get it, I really dont. Are things that bad thery are squeezing every last penny before bailing? I donrt know but I DO know that they way things are shaping up at SC, ED has a fight on its hands. LOts of players decry SC but at least they are BUILDING the game, not selling players a shell on blind faith. Thoughts?

Elite is far from on its last leg.
I'm a backer of Star Citizen, and sure Star Citizen puts out a ton of videos, that is true, but what are they actually saying in those videos? not really a lot, a lot of idea's a lot of talk, but look at the game itself, look at the development time itself?
Frontier is building a game as well, and please realise that Star Citizen is set up to run into the EXACT same problems that Elite dangerous has. Once the "whoa" moments wear off, and people have to play the game for an extended period of time, that is when you really should judge the game.

How does Elite Dangerous stand up there? fairly good in my book, its lasting and they are continuing to fixing and working on problems that arise. Many people complain about the grind and the length of time it takes to get things, and eagerly look for loopholes and ways to get rich fast.

Star Citizen is going to hammer right into the same problem, because here's the thing, if things are too fast to get, what are people going to then do? you've done everything, you've gotten everything? now what? well a certain set of people see that as a "I'm bored lets annoy other people" trigger so yeah there's also that.

Is Elite: Dangerous perfect? nope. Plain and simple it is not perfect. But in my book despite my lack of ability to play as long as I want, or to get the unlocks I want rapidly, its still better then most things out there.

Star Citizen is going to hammer into exactly the same problems, and then complaining about horizon only getting certain updates? please read up, because last I checked, even a non horizon user will get advantages from those updates, they aren't going to leave several different versions of the games, however if they improve horizon specific stuff yes, horizon owners are the only ones getting an advantage, if a feature affects everyone? everyone gets updated?

So yeah Elite: Dangerous is a continually developed and build game, and Star Citizen is not going to be perfect when it releases, and it is going to have problems, because one thing is letting people play in a limited alpha, with many 'wow' features does not in any way say if the game over the long distance will be great. Because people are as said in the "whoa" honeymoon part of the game. Please at least admit that, you have absolutely no idea if Star Citizen will turn out great or not.

I doubt it... flawed as it is for content, its still the best space game out there for pretending you've suffered a massive trauma and want to fly out into the void to forget recover and find yourself

"I watched a video of SC and it's soooo awesome! Those guys are really doing it!"

Did anyone else double over laughing when they got to that part?
