Whoever programmed the database of npc names deserves a medal.

Some great names those NPC's have and best i came across was "Inspector Gadget" made me laugh it did and they say dev's don't have a sense of humour these days.

I have seen "Ronnie O'Sullivan" twice (and killed him twice; he was a pirate who attacked me), as well as "Hastings E. Sussex" twice (also pirates; also died. How can 86,000 people fit in ANY ship, let alone a Sidewinder or a Cobra MkIII?). I nearly ruined Christmas one year when I was attacked by (and got the bounty for) the criminal "S. Claus"!
Sacrilege !

Well, HE interdicted and attacked me!

Yup, the names often make me smile. Here are a few faves:

If its the same person that created the random tosh that is spouted in local like "We are in the 1% of liners out there" or "Im gonna boil you up" they deserve something else....

Clearly you're on the naughty list then! He did check it twice too.
Erm, no. Ronnie O'Sullivan and Hastings E. Sussex did attack me twice, but S. Claus (who was identified as a criminal!!!) only attacked me once. It wasn't even as if I was carrying any festive supplies!

This is my favorite...

I've also come across "The Last Dorsai". That's a reference to the epic Childe Series of sci-fi books by Gordon R. son. Also Vladimir V. Putin.

Below are some honorable mentions...

I believe there are two databases, the one used for the NPC ships flying around, named by the KS backers, many of whom thought they were clever and humorous by not following the instruction to provide their own name, and the one used for the station NPC's (mission givers and crew lounge pilots), which uses a first name + surname template.

I believe that can happen if you go overbudget with the boost stages.

Yesterday, OJ Olmos tried to interdict me. I was inclined to actually let him, see if Starbuck is finally back, and Apollo started to listen to his dad.

I think it used to just pull names from a pre-generated list. Now - after they've added ship names - I think it might be doing random generation sometimes and other times pulling from the pre-gen list.

Famous NPCs I've killed: Londo Mollari (twice), Ender Wiggin (twice in the same instance), Zap Branigan (2-3 times) and - most recently - Citizen G'kar (piloting the "Unforgiver"). Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. I was also given assassination missions (Elite, NPCs flying Corvettes) to kill both Gaius Baltar and Littlefinger.

Best NPCs names that look like they were randomly generated - Elmo Bojangles [haha] (flying the Crown Pandemic) and Day Thief (piloting Lord of the Night).

The random ship name generator needs more entries. My friends and I kill multiple Hate/Hatred, Horror, Fear, Fist ships every time we play. It has gotten to the point that we prioritise ships with Hate/Hatred in the name, joking that we "Must eradicate hatred from the galaxy."[noob]

I don't think they are procedural ..... how would you get ..... Ivor (I Assure You Madam) a Big One .... and also ... Mrs Trellis from South Wales ? .... to name but two :)

Correction to the first name lol is Ivor "Jest Ye Not Madam" Biggun

As an avid radio 4 fan (perhaps my moniker is the give-away) I can't help correcting: "Mrs Trellis from North Wales" rather than south. But I accept the in-game version may be different... ;-)
