WHOOT, WHOOT, WHOOT!

Well, now I need to change my spacesuit! Those klaxons are something if you're not expecting them!

Yeah you'll see this when there are network issues. I take those scratches on the wall are the number of failed jumps this week.

In fairness, my carrier was jumping on Auto last night, did about 14,000LY till a network issue. Think that is a record for me.

I haven't been playing for a week, did fdev roll out the ability to schedule multiple jumps for carriers?

Or did 777 out that he's running a bot to play for him?

My guess is by auto he either means he sets up the jump then logs off or is playing elsewhere and pops over to the management screen to do each jump. As opposed to sitting on it and doing the jumps.

Allegations of cheating are wrong. Learn your lesson well Mr Ender.... ;)

Only if the allegations turn out to be false. Scripting afk gameplay is the definition of what makes "bots" usually an illegal thing in the game. Voice attack is allowed (though if it were up to me I'd make it illegal as well ....such functionality should be part of the game or free, not available only if you buy it) because you're still there having to give it your commands. When something like voice attack is doing it's own thing while you're not there ...that's where it starts to enter the territory of bot-land.

This most definitely reeks of bot behavior.

edit: people may feel safe saying they use this kind of automation to string jumps together since jumping is a wasted part of the game devoid of anything but time sinks ...but if this works for mindless jumping out in the black ...then it works for much more useful activities in the bubble that can impact the bgs. Then the game simply becomes dominated by bots. At least anything caring about the bgs would be at risk of becoming. Whether or not fdev steps in is the question. Since even though they should do something, they may not. As we've seen with other game issues, they wont put effort into it unless it gets a bunch of negative youtube videos or negatively impacts store sales.

Dude it was a joke, like your post!

Stating it was a joke, doesn't make it so. You made a statement. The only way you could be construed as a joke is if it followed a bunch of comments about people saying that those who allege cheating are worse than the cheater and you're being sarcastic. That didn't happen here.

Plus, I'm not alleging cheating ... Just that what the person admitted to using sounds awfully like a bot. That's not an allegation, it's an observation.

Bot use is exactly the same as pay to win. It provides unfair advantages using external means (be them, money, programming experience, exclusive applications, etc) to get advantages within the game that other users dont have who are playing the game using what the game provides. I'm not inclined to care that much one way or the other with bots but if you're pro-bot then you should be pro pay to win too and we should see some demands for being allowed to buy arx to purchase carriers / other ships etc. It would definitely net them much more money than what they get from bots and at the very least, it lessens the advantage bots provide and the exclusive nature of those bots to specific players/groups.

Ummm, okay chief! Chill out lol!

Are that kind of bots:
1) not allowed?
2) detrimental to the game?

I cannot say for sure about #1, as I have not looked into that part of the user agreement.
But my take on #2 is that chaining jumps is not really an issue that is detrimental to anyone. There is still a fuel tank that will empty eventually, even if you can refuel from storage (which I am not sure about either).

As of now, this script (and others) are not "not allowed" - the ongoing presence of the respective thread is one sign for this.
In general, FD tolerates/supports player addons that use the official and published APIs, namely the player journal and the associated status files https://elite-journal.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

What you cannot do through those APIs is, for example, control your ship and e.g. let it fly or fight autonomously - that would require either screengrabbing or a deeper dig into the client software, which is something FD comes down on like the proverbial ton of bricks.
