Why all persons in game are in "no-smile" mod?

It clearly states that when providing a photograph for a passport "Not to smile". There are examples provided for both "smiling" and "not smiling". A big fat X is over "smiling" picture, just in case you didn't understand what "Do no smile in photograph" meant.

Last time I had a passport photo taken I deliberately tried to look like I'd just traveled 18 hours without sleep. Mussed up clothing, askew collar, ticked off look of impatience. Suffice it to say I've never had an issue with them believing it wasn't me in the photo when I travel.

Variation in facial expressions is a hard thing to get right. I'm sure it will be addressed in time.

Not smiley, but Some of those [System you are in] Syndicate / Crew gangsters look a bit smug sometimes... but everyone seems to have bags under their eyes or a sweaty pallor: I guess that's what you get for living in low-g under artificial lighting...

When we get Soon™ brand Space Legs™ we can at least have a wander down to the agri-stations' glazed rings and catch some rays - I think a bit of vitamin D will do us all good.

Dunno, I've seen npc's that smile, its just more subtle, and more realistic then many other overblown games, and many of the situations are nothing to smile about, so yeah seems to depend, on situation?

I've noticed that it is the male authorities that smile to me, all women look pretty sour. Maybe these things are interconnected and maybe I'm giving the wrong signals...

NPC have to live in that universe 24/7. We players can quit the game if we've had enough of repetitive grind, NPCs can't. I can totally understand their sadness.
